I've been put on mirtazapine 15mg in the last month and I can't stop eating. Before this I was trying to loose weight and the Dr commented that she could see I have lost some. But now I am heavier than I was when I started healthy eating. Has anyone experienced this and if so what advice would you have to control this hunger I now have. It's really making me feel down. Also these tablets where to help me sleep aswell as help with my depression and ptsd but it would seem that after a month the sleep issue is returning as I've been awake again all night my mind just won't stop.

Mirtazapine advice.
Hello Newfox
Thank you for your post..
To help with the hunger you may want to have more (non alcoholic, sugar free drinks or tea) to stave off the hunger pangs, whilst continuing the healthy eating.
You may want to consider having a discussion with your doctor to review the situation, as you are having these extra health issues whilst taking mirtazapine.

I had the same side effect, the increased appetite but it wore off after a few months. I try to drink more water instead of eating biscuits and other junk foods. The sleep issue - it makes me drowsy but I also don't always sleep which is very frustrating. I have been trying exercise to wear myself out and go to sleep better. You have my sympathy x
I'm on the strongest dose in the beginning I too was eating more unhealthy foods but now I just eat toast or cereal at night.
I’m on 45mg and it makes me eat a lot but it has kinda slowed down
