Hi Adele welcome to the forum. I'm still quite new here myself and like you I have good days and bad days. I also take venlafaxine and mirtazapine for depression and anxiety they don't work as well as they used to but I keep struggling on.

Glad you've found this place and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for. X

Hi Mizeiki thank you I'm just trying to find my feet around this place. I am hoping that venlafaxine is the right medication for me as I'm still trying to find the right one mirtazapine isn't right for me at all x

Hi Adele. I hope tomorrow is easier for you. I have had anxiety and depression on and off for years. There are many of us, you are certainly not alone! Look after yourself. Liz

Hi Adele1983

Have you heard of Steve Ilardi and Therapeutic Lifestyle Change (TLC)? If not I would highly recommend watching this

youtube.com/watch?v=7HDFEbs...

I have recently come off Venlafaxine having been on it for 10+ years and this follows many years of unsuccessful medications. I had previously tried most SSRI's without success and due to my hypersomnolence, tricyclic's were never really an option so to venlafaxine it was.

The decision to take Venlafaxine is one not to be taken lightly - I don't want to scare anyone but after taking it for so long, the withdrawal from it is horrific and the drug itself, I believe, had been causing Lupus like syndrome in me - all the recent Lupus tests were inconclusive and there has been symptomatic improvement on removal of Venlafaxine.

I am now using the TLC along with the support of my GP and mental health team... and things are improving - but it is a long and challenging road. I think it will probably take a year for my brain to adjust to not having pharmaceutical intervention but I at least feel I am no longer swimming around in a pool of chemicals - just fish oil...

Take care and keep in touch x

Hi and thank you for your reply I’m due to start taking venlafaxine on Friday starting with one tablet a day for two weeks then it will be two tablets per day what time would you suggest to take them I hope these help me as the other medication I’ve been on hasn’t helped me one bit x
