Been prescribed meds

For my depression and anxiety . After years of suffering. I hope they help me to try to sort some of my issues out. I am scared of side effect but don't want to live like this forever .

Been prescribed anti depressants and beta blockers . My heart rate is very high.

I feel relieved as the doctor was very nice and said clearly what I've had so far has not helped (online cbt and some counselling ).

Thank you for your post.

I am glad you have a doctor who seems to be good about mental health and wellbeing which is linked with physical health. Depression / anxiety often go hand in hand with high blood pressure.

Medication can restore the level brain chemicals associated with emotions and physical symptoms and therefore improve both.

The medication will take some time to work 3-12 weeks (depending on your body) so please persist if you think they are not working straight away. Unfortunately it is not possible to predict what side effects, if any you might experience. They are usually mild and soon pass as your cells get used to the meds.

Meds on their own will not be the answer, so please continue with some form of talking therapy.
