Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

Has anyone had the TMS treatment for depression? I'm curious to see what your results were and if you'd recommend it? I hope to be moving to this step sometime this year and am looking forward to it. I've heard really good things about it but would like to get a personal opinion from someone who's had it done. Thanks!

I looked into TMS. The NHS don't offer it and to have it done privately would cost me about £8000. I chatted to my psychologist about it, although it is passed by NICE, it is not yet an approved method of treatment. Not enough is understood about the treatment or the side effects yet.

A friend of mine had 25 treatments in the US without benefit unfortunately. It seems like a mild ECT type treatment

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't realize this group was in Scotland when I joined. I'm actually in the states so this treatment is a viable option for me. I have been looking into it and was hoping this could really help me.

That's disappointing to hear that your friend didn't have any relief from it. I will definitely try and get as much feedback as possible. It seems like a very weird concept to me but if it helps and doesn't have too many side effects, then I'm all for it.
