Welcome Wedderburn. It mainly works it appears to me by the members giving good positive advice and encouragement to anyone who posts they have a problem. Many of us have suffered from depression for years (over 40 in my case) so we know a few tricks to keeping alive and often happy. You can also post about other things (if you have had a good experience for instance, or reply to posts where you feel you have good advice to offer.
You will find a lot of the posts in the anxiety support section should really be in the action on depression section and vice versa. Personally I don't look at the anxiety posts as much as I've never suffered unduly from this ,although I sometimes reply if the issue seems to be depression.
Along with the more needy posts asking for help or advice you will find a lot of teenage angst and hypochondria although these posters are undoubtedly also suffering a lot of mental torment.
Whether good advice and help is received (which is usually the case ) by giving an outlet for our feelings anonymously ,the site is a help in itself.

Thank you for very much for taking the time to reply.
I joined the copd forum 4 weeks ago and with there help managed to get my life back.
Depression is probably one of the most difficult illnesses to understand and to help someone who has this illness is not only difficult but also a lot of times impossible.
That's when the doctors do have there uses with drugs.
They don't have the time to devote to any one person.
Unless you can pay.
Anyway Olderal..I hope I can find something and hopefully give something to this forum.
Regards.
Andy.
If you've made 63 you're doing pretty well. Unfortunately its not just time altho that is a factor. The medical guys don't know that much more than the rest of us. No disrespect to them its a difficult area.
I don't know what the copd forum is unless its coping with depression.
Hopefully you will find us useful and if you can give something back thats really appreciated--so many young people, kids really , with really bad problems.
Regards Olderal
Hi again Olderal. ..
I don't get much of a change now to look at my mobile as my children are now on holiday. I live in Thailand so we are 6 hours ahead of you.
Copd. ..is an incurable lung disease 8 or 9 out 10 people get it trough smoking.
As and when I can I will put in my penny's worth.
I think you will find me an understanding person.
Regards Andy.
