BOB
Well ive been told to see a therpist and i have and recently got a letter back saying i have depresson at the mild/modrate level of depression and i hard people talking about disablity allowance and wasnt sure how it worked i looked online but didnt quite understand of what/how it all worked.
Hi have a look on direct.gov.uk as there is loads of info on there about benefits. x
Ive looked but dont quite understand it all
Hi it's easy enough. Just put what you are looking for in the search box at the top and it comes straight up.
What don't you understand on there? Bev x
Strongly suggest you get professional support if you intend to do this.
It can be very time consuming and stressful
Also it can take upto a year for a decision without a tribunal. If it goes to tribunal it could take a lot longer.
You will probably need support from at least a Dr.
There is a qualifying period before you even apply so if this is a new problem you may not even qualify yet.
Sorry to sound negative if you can't work of course you need an income to live.
I worked in the system have helped others and use it myself but it is not just a question of filling in a Dr's note so forewarned is forearmed

Hello Sherri
I do not know what your situation is for this. If the benefit is for someone lookng after you or you looking after them.
You will need to talk with the patients GP who will possibly send an Occupational Therapist down to where the patient is and they will provide them with aides to get around outside and at home for washing and doing tasks in the home.
It may also set things in motion for Social Services to also to visit. You will then need to apply for this benefit
At this time with all the changes I do not know what the new criteria is at this time.
Look on the Gov.com web pages that will give all up to date information..
When I was at my old address they checked my needs and supplied tools to look after myself.
When we moved up here they were here as well to help with equipment to use my bathroom, kitchen and when out and about.
Sorry I can not be anymore helpful, my wife is my carer although I do not get any form of living allowance
Good Luck, sorry for the spacing error bad fingers tonight
BOB
Hi Bob have you applied for Attendance Allowance? This is the same as DLA/PIP but is called that coz it is for retired people in receipt of the state pension. Have a look on the website. Bev x
Hello Bev
With regard above we have to wait until I become sixty five, then when pensions etc get sorted we will then need to consider what we can do.
I never thought retirement can be so complicated regarding what will be possible. We are awaiting further information.

Good. Let's hope you are entitled Bob as it will certainly help financial wise. One tip - don't fill in the forms yourself, get help from an expert. Ok? Bev x
Thanks Bev will do.
Hazel is reading it up at the moment. Thanks for letting me know
