I am wondering if anyone has taken this drug, I have been prescribed it to start tonight and I don't want to put weight on. The last anti depressants I tried I put on around 25 kgs, I just feel more depressed now trying to get my weight down again. Thank you

Hi Too Much well you certainly did t say too much in your Post as an introduction,

Talk about being sparing with words. Lol.

I have been on this antidepressant, and No I didn't put any weight on. Of course

If you start stuffing the chocolates and chips and junk food I. You will of course

Put weight on.

Welcome to the Forum and let us know how you are getting on.

Hi there, I know it is really hard putting on weight. Trust me, I'm right there with you. I have put on a stone and a half. I'm on a diet now and have lost 2 pounds so far which I'm proud of. But I didn't put it on due to AD's. I got too comfy and stupidly let myself be happy. And the weight piled on. Now I have to focus on losing it.

I think everyone's reaction is different. I didn't put on or lose weight when I started the AD's. But I know it can go either way. Your appetite can be affected. Do you feel your appetite shoot up when you last took AD's? I am on Citalopram.

Much love xx

Hi, me too, I won't go on antidepressants because I also put loads of weight on as a result of taking them - but it all depends upon how depressed you are and the balance of benefits and disadvantages. If you feel able to cope without them and can find other forms of support to enable you to lose weight then do so, if you feel so depressed that you are unable to find or use other supports and feel you need meds then take them and when you begin to feel better seek support from the NHS local weight loss service as it will be a good time to feel sufficiently motivated. xx
