Aw that's pants, I'm sorry to her you didn't get it. And your colleague sounds a bit spineless for not telling you. Everything happens for a reason and you not getting this job will mean you can apply for something even better x

Hi there it's always difficult at a time like this. I would avoid that colleague and maybe be more aware of office politics. People are strange.

Don't let it knock you back, you could always ask for feedback on your interview,

Although that might be a bit hard right now

As Lucy says , maybe there is something better in store for you

Oh that must feel hard for you. Perhaps when you said about having an interview he felt embarrassed or anxious and didn't want to get into discussions about it all, but when you say you told him so much about what you do it sounds as though you feel you helped him to get the job but that did you out of it?

Applying for another job and not getting that either must make it all feel even harder. You see it as a rejection which it must feel like, and I am wondering what stops you from getting the jobs, whether it is due to a lack of skills or lack of confidence, or maybe some other factor?

Talking through what jobs you applied for and why you didn't get them may help you to move forwards, we can support you and perhaps help you with that?

All I can say here is, I know how you damn well feel! I am in exactly the same position as you. It is so difficult nowadays to find any job, let alone a suitable one. Working for minimum wage seems to be the thing for me now, and I'm happy to do that. But the problem is I can't get full time hours! It is incredible the state this country is in!

The important thing to remember is that getting rejected doesn't mean what it used to mean. You are up against literally hundreds of people when you apply for a job. It never used to be like that! But coz of the current climate, EVERYONE is desperate and everyone is trying their absolute best. This is what you're up against. You may well be great for the job, but if someone else has a year's more experience they will be chosen over you. This keeps happening because sooo many people apply for one job.

I am in the same position - struggling to find full time work.

But staying positive is key here, I think. It is so easy to think "don't care anymore". I felt like that this last while since I got fired simply because I "didn't fit in". But we definitely won't get a job if we give up now will we? That's a certainty.

Try not to take it to heart. It is a mine field out there and it is so competitive and employers have too much choice, that's part of the problem. Just think to yourself, you would have got a job easily before this recession hit.

Not what you're looking for?
