Ibs flare up ( stomach pain and cramp)

Hi I have just recently been diagnosed with ibs can anyone give me any advice on how to manage Ibs flare up ie stomach pain and cramp

Are you on any medication?

Yeah I'm taking loperamide for it at the moment,it's just dealing with the stomach pain and cramps during flare up

Flare ups are so annoying. So unpredictable.

Hiya Andy,as a newbie to ibs,it's very common to have these painful stomach cramps.Always check with your GP,but when I first got it,I was diagnosed with buscapan.I found it eased the cramps a bit but not completely.Also,whenever you feel the urge to go to the toilet,don't put it off cos once you've been,you will usually have less stress around your stomach.But remember,go with your GPS suggestions cos I first got it in 02 and things have probably progressed since then.gd luck Andy.
