I’ve been circumcised for 5 days everything is healing well with occasional blood spotting.
I’ve noticed the head of my penis has gone slightly yellow near a bruise on the head. Just wondering if this is normal

Hey there, welcome to the circumcised life. Early days but hope you're doing well - sounds like my experience in the first week, bruising and a little bit of spotting blood. Bruising is definitely to be expected, yellow round the edge and reds and purples are all to be expected. I had mine 11 weeks back and for the first 2 months I had a big bruise next to my frenulum on the head of my penis, it was yellow and purple and faded over time. Keep an eye on it and raise any concerns with your surgeon or doc. Reach out whenever you need. We're all here.
Thanks for the advice! I feel as though I’ve been left out in the cold in terms of aftercare. I feel as though I’m quite lucky in the sense that I’m not experiencing much pain and sensitivity. It’s just the bruising and occasionally sticking to the bandage that I’m having trouble with.
I’m having a slight issue with dribbling after urination which is putting down to the swelling.
Can I ask where you given a 6 week recovery time frame as I’ve seen some people recover sooner and others take longer my friend had his done same age as me 23 and he recovered in 5 weeks, I’m curious to see if there’s a pattern or consensus.
Thanks again 👍
I know how you feel - aftercare instructions I was given were threadbare, but it's hard to include everything you might expect to happen in a single leaflet. It sounds to me like you're off to a normal start here. The first couple weeks are your penis settling after a traumatic manhandling by the surgeon - bruising, swelling and a little blood are all to be expected.
Once you're past the first 2 weeks things should be settling down and it's about keeping clean and not rushing to feel better. Then the stitches start falling out and you'll feel relief from some of the tightness. The dribbles still happen to me... I tend to wait a bit at the toilet for it all to dribble out, but sometimes I get a little drip. The swelling makes it difficult, don't worry about it.
I've been posting my weekly updates since week 6, so you can have a read of them on my profile, but in short at 6 weeks I was healed on the outside, still experiencing swelling and aches, and slowly getting back out there - lots of internal healing takes place for months afterwards. I'm 40, so my healing time is likely going to be longer than yours - you should rebound quicker than a man of my age.
The normal quoting is 6-8 weeks healing on the outside, at 3 months feel normal, at 6 months most internal healing done, at 12 months full aesthetic - but we're all different. You got this, ask any questions whenever you like, pal.
All to be expected. I'm on day 15. Yellow almost gone, normal colour beginning to return. The lower frenulum end that you cant see readily still has a scab and bruising. I had issues urinating for about 1 week until flow returned correctly. Stitches beginning to dissolve in some areas. Recommend some protective underwear, like a cricket box or something as I was walking about the house easily after day 3 because of it and running shopping errands by day 7, otherwise I wouldn't be confident going out. Still not wearing normal underwear yet.
