Circumcision in 2 days

Hey,

I’m having the cut done in 2 days and am terrified to say the least but I’ve made the decision and I’m doing it.

So… can anyone help with ways to reduce sensitivity in the first few days?

I was due to have this done about a year ago but the anesthetist decided to postpone because of a fear of complications after surgery, as I have a medical condition, and the doctor advised they weren’t going to bandage the cut. Whilst the exposure terrifies me, bandaging and rebandaging seems like it would be hell, so I’m gonna need to get used to the sensitivity right from the start and any suggestions for reducing it would be much appreciated.

Wish me luck!

Tbh I took my bandage off with my first piss after the surgery while everything was still numb as it got wet and I never replaced it. Get yourself a sports cup ordered and if you need to wear clothes in the first couple of weeks put that on under your clothes that will help cover any rubbing. Good luck

Thank you for the advice! I’m hoping I’ll be able to cope with contact (sure I’m wrong but one can dream 🤣) because I know that’s the only way to tackle sensitivity in the long run!

Hi Hhhfgggfs, your post was really interesting, but, pardon my ignorance, what is a sports cup? I googled it but it just came up with lots of sports trophies, but it sounds like some kind of protective device which actually sounds like a really good idea, but as I say I can't actually work out what it is 😀, probably because I am so bad at sports!

No problem, try looking up sports cup protector. That will bring up loads of different options! 👍

Ah yes, adding protector on the end certainly brings up a completely different set of products!!! Lol! That is the sort of thing I was guessing it must be but I had never seen anything like them before, i'm a bit surprised that nobody else has thought of using these, as they look really well suited for anybody to wear post circumcision when everybody complains about ultra sensitivity of their manhood, I think your suggestion might go viral now the massive post circumsized community are aware of this option!

So I got one and it’s a game changer. Don’t get me wrong it’s not comfortable, nothing is 🤣 but with the protector on (and a gauze with loads of Vaseline inside it) I can drive, just about walk like a pleb, just been to the shop and I can let me dog get a little closer than before which is a god sent.

Good for you! And hopefully good for a lot of other people who like me had never ever heard of such a thing 😀. Fingers crossed lots of others will now benefit!!

Hey bro. First thing - well done. Second - don't panic. It will be fine. It's a simple op been happening thousands of years. I'm 3 months after and healed up nicely. I came out with no dressing. My best advice is to apply your own bandage and wear tight pants keeping it upright. The key is restricting movement as much as possible to stop discomfort. Then bathe in salt water daily to help prevent infection and promote healing. 4 tsp salt in a pint glass or boiled cooled water. Dip penis in don't rub it. Use some Vaseline if the head is sensitive. Try not to encourage erections! You can't help the night ones. They will hurt but won't harm recovery. Expects a little bleeding, again nothing to worry about. Main thing is avoiding infection. Good luck and feel free to ask any questions as you go...

“It will be fine” is honestly comforting to hear from someone who’s been through it! Thank you :) Fingers crossed I manage to avoid infection and somehow get used to the sensation asap but I know it’s not going to be a quick fix.

I’m sure I’ll have 1000 questions after tomorrow 🤣

I think the fact you realise it will take some time to get better is a big psychological step. The initial healing should be done in three weeks with stitches dissolved in about 4-5 then it's a good few months to fully settle and lose all post-op sensitivity. No question is a stupid question so fire away anytime 👍🏻

Those with lived experience have covered the important stuff above but I have heard that a cold compress in the groin wrapped in a towel can help swelling every few hours post op, esp if you are going bandage free (I understand that bandaging reduces swellling so the cold compress may help un your case). Some guys are so sensitive post op they have to go without pants for a while or wear slinky dressing gown!

Sudafed or Codral can help reduce night wood for some guys - but mixed reviews. And be prepared for lymphatic fluid to leak from the wound...it appears white or yellow in dried or liquid form...it can be ongoing for a few weeks and disconcerting if you are not prepared for it. Keeping the fella upright in snug pants helps drain away lymph fluid and reduce swelling - as noted by Devon-uk.

Your surgeon will probably prescribe an antibiotic gel/cream to apply daily. Any sign of infection get to the doctor fast as it delays recovery by weeks.

If wound smells, you have a temperature, excessive bleeding or swelling, seek medical advice fast. Otherwise it's usually two weeks of decreasing discomfort and another four to six of increasing normality.

Seamless microfibre/synthetic pants can help reduce friction in the initial stages of getting used to life without a hood from what I've heard. And of course - vaseline...the adult circumcised man's best friend!

Also there are more hard core solutions like lidocaine - ask your surgeon if that's an option for you post op.

Best of luck mate!

Check in with us post op for the sake of those whose op is still to be endured!

I'm told Panamax 2 at night before bed helps stops erections during sleeping. I never new that just got up first few days walked erections off and has piss then back to bed that helped alot ...

Panamax 2! Easier than sourcing Sudafed/Codral as it's by prescription where I live. Thanks for the tip.BTW: Have you heard of "layering" paracetamol and ibuprofen every two hours by day...a dose of one - wait two hours - then a dose of the other - to help reduce pain?

The walk-about / piss tactic is far a better approach than writhing about in the dark in agony!

Just bear in mind the maximum dose of paracetamol for an adult in 24 hours is 4g = 8 tablets.

hey, I’ll be hitting my three-year mark cut come August. What I would say would be due exactly as the doctor say post surgery do not try to ejaculate or meddle with your penis until all the stitches have fully fallen off themselves. That way you have a clean, safe healing with limited to no scarring like my experience. For sensitivity, keep it wrapped up in the gauze and pointed upwards to help the swelling and inflammation go down much quicker and the drainage of the lymphatic fluid. GOOD LUCK 🍀  WgH420

ALSO PLEASE SIT WHEN YOU DO NUMBER 1 & 2 STANDING UP IS NOT YOUR FRIEND UNTIL SWELLING HAS WENT AWAY.

Appreciate the heads up on the toilet situation 🤣 and the heads up on the… head up 🤣

How is it for you 3 years on then and how were you before the op? I’m absolutely shitting myself but I’ve seen many many people on here say they felt similar and whilst it’s no walk in the park, it’s nowhere near as horrible as they thought it would be before having the op

Thank you all for the replies! Fingers crossed if I implement some of the above it’ll go smoothly.

I do however have a follow up question - I’m a smoker and am helplessly addicted. I’ve switched to vaping recently and am finding that okay, but I wonder if anyone here smoked before/after surgery and if they had complications as a result?

Hey! I’m doing better than I thought I would for sure but it’s definitely stressful! Having to adapt how I do everything. And I really do mean everything - slightly exhausting. I’m only a few days in though and from what practically everyone says, it’ll get better.

What’s your reason for having it done if you don’t mind me asking? Mine was phimosis, so sensitivity is by far the main issue for me
