Penis inflammation doesn't go away

3 months ago my dermatologist made a mistake of prescribing Pimafucort for my penis glans. It caused a strong inflammation, which ceased to some extent in about 3 weeks. However, there is still a slightly red, painful area on my glans. It hurts when I touch it or when I pull my foreskin. It also hurts when my penis is getting larger, but when it is already fully erect, it doesn't.

I haven't noticed any improvement in the last 2 months and it makes me worried.

I am waiting for the results of swab, but the new dermatologist said it's most probably clear. She prescribed Travocort (corticosteroid), but I'm hesitant to use it. I want to try all the natural ways before I use another drug.

What can I try doing?

EDIT: Swab turned out clean in mycotic

you could try following the advice of your dermatologist. Steroidal creams are often used for skin complaints.

It is also anti-fungal and my mycotic test turned out to be clean. Is it still reasonable to use it? My dermatologist said it is, as only this combination is safe to use on the penis glans. I am just looking for a second opinion, as I'm scared after the last incident with Pimafucort.

If you want a second opinion it needs to be from a healthcare professional

Of course, I have went to more than one. But I suppose that's what this forum is for

It is not here to disagree with your healthcare professionals.

omg this doc sounds like an idiot. This is almost certainly a yeast infection caused by steroid use. Steroids are known to cause yeast infection. Why did they prescribe topical steroids? Any abx recently? Are you diabetic? Have high sugar or starch? Do you often stay in wet/sweaty clothes? My son is intact which is not very common here in the US. Sadly the doctors seem extremely ignorant about diagnosing and treating penile yeast. Anyway I'll post the instructions below that worked for my son and daughter when they got yeast.

Instructions:

Wash any underclothes in hot water and dry them on the hot setting or put them outside to sun dry.

Apply clotrimazole/lotrimin 1% (an over-the-counter anti-fungal available at pharmacies, super stores, and even the dollar store!) topically to speed healing time. If you feel something stronger is warranted, a doctor can prescribe Nystatin cream.

Angela, BSN RN CLC, nurse admin for Your Whole Baby advises: apply anti-fungal cream every 2 - 3 hours for 72 hours or until external symptoms disappear. Continue applying 2 - 3 times a day for another 72 hours after symptoms clear.

Do not apply cornstarch/baby powder

Try a soak in a bath with 1/4-1/2 cup of Apple Cider Vinegar. Apple Cider Vinegar is a natural anti-fungal and will help eliminate the yeast.

Mix Apple Cider Vinegar with equal parts water and wipe directly on the penis. It will be soothing and will help to eliminate yeast.

Eliminate or greatly reduce sugar and dairy from the diet as both feed yeast.

Bubble baths, chlorine pools, and laundry detergents can all create a yeast imbalance (for girls, intersex children, and boys, circumcised or intact). Some people are more prone to imbalances and if your child is extra sensitive to any of these things, you will need to discontinue or greatly reduce their use.

Begin oral probiotics immediately to re-balance the gut flora.

Note: If you have treated for yeast for 48 hours and there is no improvement, there may be a bacterial infection in addition to yeast and an intact-friendly doctor may need to prescribe an antibiotic. This is rare, but does occasionally happen. Antibiotics themselves often cause yeast by killing the good bacteria in the gut along with the bad, thus causing yeast to flourish. If your child (or you) are ever prescribed an antibiotic, it's always good to take an oral probiotic (two hours minimum apart from the antibiotic), and watch for signs of yeast overgrowth.

I had a swab test for yeast and it turned out clean. In bacteria it is "Citrobacter koseri" in single amounts.

I am not diabetic.

Did they give antibiotics or have you taken any? It sounds like they should and from what I understand steroids can make bacterial infections worse too

I saw this type of bacteria can be hospital acquired. Wondering if you have also mentioned this new result to your pcp or if you can get a referral to urology if the dermatologist doesn't offer help
