Penis upright after circumcision

How long should I kept it upright? I really feel uncomfortable and makes my glans hurt a lot. I'm almost on my 3rd week after circumcision. The nurse that changed the dressing (I had to go to a local health center every 3 days until last week), told me that I no longer needed to keep it upright (she knew that I felt very bad about keeping upright). But she's not a doctor and my next visit to the doctor will be in the end of September...

I would suggest do what makes you feel better. I do not see how allowing your penis to point down or sideways would interfere with healing. The penis has a mind of it's own anyway!!!

All the staff (doctors, nurses), before and after the procedure, always told me several times to keep it upright to prevent infections and help with the swelling. I also read it online (on the webpages of health centers, hospitals, etc.). But all failed to say for how long. And I never asked...

I was not given any advice on such aftercare and followed most advice on hear. I tried to keep it up but 'he' had other ideas. I just left it down from day two and found that reasonably comfortable, all things considered !
