I would like to know about complications you had following circumcision surgery. I'm waiting for surgery end of this month. But I'm bit reluctant. I want to know how many days I have to get leave from my office?,When will it completely recover?,could you please share your experience

I had severe bleeding on day 5 which scared the shit out of me. Went to the hospital and they bandage it again.

Will suggest to really lie down n not sit or move around as it will cause more swelling.

First 3 weeks was quite miserable as it will swell once I sit or stand too long. By week 8 it was quite ok and not too bothered about it

After 3 mths I will say I was almost 100% recovered.

Well, I had the surgery a long time ago. When I was 14 years old. My parents took me to the hospital. The surgery only took 20 or 30 minutes at the most. I'd been given general anesthesia but still, you'd feel the needle going inside. Just before the surgery, I'd one male nurse take me to a room to shave off my hair down there. For 3 or 4 days, I'd a roll of dressing over my thing. A week or two later, I'd bleeding over there, a couple of times. After that, everything was okay. Anyway, thinking about it now, it was really cool. Not much to worry about.

had mine done 7 months ago aged 50. First few days were ok… then one week of hell with nigh time erections - that’s honestly the worst bit… and it’s only a few nights! By week two I could do simple stuff and work… but I work from home. I think was three weeks before I could go out and about “normally” and six weeks before I was fully as mobile as I was before.

Mine was because of Balanitis and Phimosis. Best decision I’ve made and wish I’d had it done 20/30 years earlier!!

You’ll be fine buddy - just a few tough weeks!

A lot here depends what you do. I run my own business so am the boss! Time off is therefore relatively easy for me... albeit as the boss there is always work still to be done!

Day of surgery (I had a general anaesthetic) I was home by lunch time and felt absolutely fine - thought I was OK and could do anything pretty much normally. Not too much pain etc.

The next few days I started to feel "uncomfortable" - not so much pain but things were awkward or difficult. I took paracetamol for 2/3 days throughout the day/night. No great difficulties with the pain, but couldn't really do much and basically slept a lot of the time for the first 5 days to maybe a week.

Around 6 days in, I "had to" do some work. About a couple of hours of computer / desk work that just had to be done. I couldn't sit down for that long! I got my wife to do it whilst I told her what needed doing as I just couldn't work yet!

I made it back to my desk for light duties around day 12 I would say... And from day 14/15 was working most of the time almost normally. I'd say was 21 days before I was able to work pretty much as I did pre surgery.

I've heard other guys say they could return faster, and others still not able to at 2/3 weeks. I think it depends a lot on your personal circumstances and may be the surgical technique used.

Broadly - I'd suggest you're going to need 7-14 days off work. Hope that helps!

Complications ? No. But the healing process can take time and be painful. Don't set yourself targets. Take one day at a time and you will be fine.

I could have been back at work after two days. But maybe it depends on your age and the technique used for the op… I don’t know.

I work from home… and was able to do some work in my home office after around a week. I couldn’t sit for long in an office chair… so not much! I’d say from around day 12 I was able to function relatively normally for work purposes. Three weeks on was pretty straightforward.

it is really down to the individual healing process. I was ready in my mind about two weeks in, but the occupational health Nurse at work signed me off for six weeks.

I had no complications and we all heal at different rates. If the surgery is necessary just have it done and work through the recovery process as best you can. Do not set targets.
