so my penis curves upward when it’s erect. Should it do that?

Lots of guys, including me, have curves. Upwards, downwards and to one side are all normal. It’s only not normal if it interferes with sexual activity. If that’s the case, or if the curve is increasing or painful, see your doctor.

Agree with previous reply. I have a friend who bends to the right. Hasn't interfered with his sex life and he's fathered 3 kids, so nothing to worry about unless it's causing you a problem

mine curves up too! I have been told that helps in making the partner reach orgasm. So don’t use porn as the gold standard for penis

I actually teach Men's Health course at a local university level and we have half a lecture on erection curvatures so don't feel like you're the only one who has one. It depends on how severely it's curved. If it is slightly curved (say 10 degrees) then that's totally normal and many men are in the same boat. If however, it's curved by more than 30 degrees then it may potentially interfere with sexual activity and make intercourse uncomfortable. I had a curvature and in my mid 20's I finally went to a doctor because I figured everyone curved a little one way or another but I was concerned that maybe mine curved too much. The doctor was able to make a determination that it was a severe enough curvature (more than 60 degrees) that surgery was determined to be beneficial for me. I'm now a couple of decades past my surgery and glad I had it. However, recovering from surgery wasn't pleasant and so if it's just for cosmetics and the curvature isn't severe, I would see no need to do anything other than embrace the uniqueness of your anatomy. However, I always recommend seeing a provider and having them assess the severity of the curvature so you can get a professional determination on whether to treat or not treat. Hopefully this helps. Good luck.
