Circumcision 5 days post op help/advice wanted.

Hi guys so I got circumcised on the 9th june after having phimosis and balanitis for years.

I am 5 days post op and am worried about the way my penis is healing. The problem I'm having is that my frenulum is constantly bleeding/oozing and doesn't really seem to be drying out. It hasn't seemed to improved much visually around the frenulum part since day 2 either, when I was discharged and started changing the bandages myself etc.

Went back to the hospital and they suggested that its likely not infected since I am on a course of antibiotics which I've almost finished aswell as using mupirocin cream twice daily as instructed by my surgeon. However I had a set back after the hospital suggested I try to stop bandaging it up because that could be keeping it moist which I thought would be impossible due to insane sensitivity but I tried it anyway. A few hours later a bit of the left side stuck to my leg and I must've pulled it off by moving and it tore a bit of the wound causing it to drip blood for 30 or so seconds and today its not looking too great in that area.

I am also still experiencing a bit of pain and discomfort and it is a bit awkward to move around but it is nothing too major.

I have major health anxiety and am incredibly stressed out by this whole experience so far, I just wondered whether anybody had any advice or a similar story to share. Or whether the stage I'm at is completely normal and it will all be ok (fingers crossed)

You're only 5 days in so things will still look a bit of a mess. The frenulum was the slowest to heal for me as it's where everything was tied off. I thought it was never going to close up. I used Vaseline protective gel which covered the open wound and helped to stop things sticking together. Another week and everything will start to look a lot better

The pain and discomfort is going to be with you for a few weeks. Some guys are lucky and the pain wasn't that bad for all the rest of us the pain was real and the discomfort will take some time.As for your constant bleeding... I would recommend you visit a different doctors office to get a 2nd opinion. But as the other user indicated the Frenulum is definitely the last thing to heal. It has been the last thing for me to heal (8 wks post op) still sensitive and still a tiny bit swollen.

Google drip guards that definitely helped...it acted as a bandage and barrier so it doesn't stick to your leg and was still able to put plenty of Vaseline as recommended. Good luck

I agree with the other two responders. Frenulum was most sensitive and longest to heal. I wrapped my penis gently in a large gauze pad and gently secured it with a cloth bandage wrap. That prevented it from rubbing and sticking, particularly when I got an erection. That helped. It will pass. The relief from phimosis and balantinitis was/is worth it.

Thanks for the advice gents. Really put my mind at ease. Looking through this forum has been a godsend for my anxiety.

Day 6 now its looking slightly better and my frenulum seems to slowly be drying up aswell, alot less bleeding, if any. Still a bit of yellow discharge from my frenulum but that is decreasing aswell.

I'm just continuing to use some jelonet non-adhesive gauze wrapped in regular gauze as right now at this stage, it seems impossible to function without it.

I posted this on another question,I’ll put it here for you as you might find some of it helpfulPost Circumcision Care……

The clinic will give you some dressings and maybe some antibiotic cream to cover the first few days post op.But once you’ve got past the first 3 -4 days then you’ll need to be ready to do everything yourself, dressings wise, cleaning the wound site and coping with the sensitivity and nighttime erections.1:You’ll need gauze squares, something like Betadine ointment,a cohesive/self adhesive bandage(Elastoplast do one)and Vaseline. This will cover all your dressing change needs.

2:When you change your dressing, loosen it all off in the shower first, the gauze tends to stick to the frenulum area as that’s where most seepage occurs and it drys onto the gauze..believe me,you don’t want to yank that off!😫Soak it off,a much, much, much better option.

3:The glans will get dead skin and gunk etc as it keratinises so twice a day soak your penis in glass of warm salty water for 5 minutes or so,this will loosen whatever dead skin, gunk or debris that has built up and keep the glans and wound site nice and clean and speeds up healing.

4:The major drawback post op is the sensitivity,it varies from person to person…some guys don’t find it too much of a problem and just push through without too much inconvenience, others(like me) have a harder time of it.I’d always recommend if you’re sensitivity is high to wrap the glans with Vaseline covered gauze and keep the penis pointing upright in tight boxer shorts to reduce movement.Seamless micropore boxers are great for this, get the size smaller than you usually get as you want everything to be held in position as much as possible.

5:Shave everything!….hair and stubble are NOT your friends in the healing stage.

6:Nighttime erections..these aren’t fun, they’ll wake you up through the night for the first 10-14 days, don’t drink anything after 9pm and go to the loo before you go to bed,a full bladder gives you an erection, once awake, walk around this’ll drain the blood from your penis to the legs quickly.I also had a bag of frozen peas in the freezer ready to stap on my erection as well to get it down fast.

7:Don’t touch it for anything other than wound care or dressings for six weeks,no wanking or sex at all! You’ll just damage the incision site and prolong the healing process.

Hopefully this covers most of the problems,it makes it sound worse than it is,it’s inconvenient for a short time rather than bad or painful, and by week 6 you can pick up where you left off…I’ve no regrets getting circumcised at all,so good luck😊👍

I had a similar problem with the bleeding, I thought it was infected and went to the hospital twice as was so worried but there was no infection. The blood was spotting weeks after but eventually it stops so try not to fret it can take time..
