Bad circumcision

Hi everyone,

I’ve posted a few times on this recovery journey I’ve been on.

I am currently on 8 weeks healing and at wits end with the state of my recovery so far.

I have attached links below where you can see the state of my penis following circumcision.

As you can see, the left side refuses to heal, I have taken antiobiotics, used medical grade manuka honey etc but it it still looks partially open. Either that or it’s just a horrible scar result?

As you can see I have developed something that looks like a keloid on the right side and the ventral side just looks an utter mess. This is starting to wreak havoc on my mental state. I had severe phimosis but it was not worth this.

My urologist says to give it time but he has been dismissive from the start. I paid over £2K privately to have this done and don’t feel I’ve received even the bare minimum of aftercare or access.

I am keen to know what others think I should do from here? Is it too soon to see someone else about a revision? The deep incision around the left does not seem to be getting better and the appearance is generally depressing. Not to mention the line is very lopsided also.

I may of had phimosis before but it didn’t affect my sex life. I have lost a lot of confidence as a result of this operation and have had zero support from my surgeon or the hospital. Even the aftercare has been abysmal and I had to force my urologist to see me as he only offered a 6 week post-op consultation on the phone.

To make things worse, I have painful hard (almost long) lumps on the dorsal side shaft, just beneath the incision line. These too are not improving and I really don’t know what to do.

This has all been so costly and disappointing. I feel I’ve gone from having a medical condition to having body dismorphia as a result of this bad outcome. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Looks normal to me, very similar to mine. I have soreness at one side which still has some stitches in. I had to get antibiotics at the end of week two as it wasn't healing and smelt too.

I've been using Savlon Advanced Healing and gently rubbing that onto the area and keeping it out as much as possible. Bathing it in salt water twice a day has also really worked.

I'm on week nine. If it gets hard it hurts which is starting to get to me but I'm trying to be patient.

Thanks a lot for the response, I also had infection which was very unpleasant. I will definitely try the salt baths. I am sorry to hear about the pain, I hope with time things will get better for us all. I was notprepared for the mental battle to deal with in this recovery.

Hi Man I think it looks good it's only been 8 weeks and you cloud be a slow healer so I wouldn't worry too much I'd just give it more time. Your skin probably feels tight still the scar especially this will improve in time have you tried using some bio oil this will help to soften your scar and loosen up your skin. You will have some lumps and bumps and even swelling from time to time but they should improve as well massaging Bio-Oil in and having regular erections will help. see what it's like in six months and it could even take a year before everything feels normal again.

Some of the photos are not Sharp if you still have any open wounds or discharge I would used some salted water and ask your GP about it.

Hey man thanks a lot for the response, appreciate it! It seems a lot on here are saying it is looking okay, the people I know who have had it done seem to have had a much better experience than me but I’m going to keep trying to be patient and hope to see some improvement. I want to use bio oil but the wound doesn’t look fully closed so I am hesitant to do it. It doesn’t feel open but there is the appearance of a gap. I’ve arranged to see my GP to see what he thinks

Yeah just give it more time it will be fine in time. we all heal differently and at different speed And don't forget you had an infection witch would have slowed it down. The skin underneath has to heal as well. As soon as you think it's ok to use the Bio-Oil I'd try it and even if you have one side that you can use it on. if you still have a wound try some salted water this will help to.

what did your gp say then?

That it needs more time but I’m good to use bio oil. He seemed to think it was healing ok

For 8 weeks my friend I’d say you’re doing well and very lucky! I am 4 months post op and scar line very bumpy but don’t notice when erect. I’d swap with you tomorrow! But maybe you have concerns when closer up. It’s a hard op to get over. In time it will become ok and the new normal. I don’t regret it if that helps, despite an infection and other complications. Stay well 👍🏻

Thank you for your response my friend. I also had an infection so I know how unpleasant that is. My healing seems to have gone much worse than the people I know who have had it done so it is good to know I’m not alone in this. I hope you continue to heal well man.

dont worry too munch, surgeond never tell you before because they wont be scary, but it takes times to have the bumps diseappear. i healed faster than you (had sex after 3 weeks) but the bumps stayed and worried me one year

I was circumcised 2 weeks tomorrow and still a little swollen.

Most of the stitches are still in and have to wear Tenna Men Pads to catch the odd blood stains.

I was totally doing ok until day 5 when it swelled up so bad I called 111 who told me to go to A&E where I waited 7 hours to have a doctor try and squeeze some of the fluid out from a stitch! Can’t tell you how painful that was.

Returning to the hospital a day later as requested they said the swelling was to be expected and gave me another course of antibiotics to be on the safe side.

I know how frustrating the whole thing is but hang in there, a lot of guys are using bio oil after the stitches have dissolved, perhaps that may help you? It’s definitely something I’m going to try.

Appreciate the response my man! I had some infection too, it was not fun. I hope you’re healing continues to go well. I’m definitely going to try the bio-oil soon.

It all looks good for only 8 weeks. I am on week 15 and mine doesn't look a huge amount different.

Thanks for the response. My healing seems to have gone so much worse than some of the friends and family I know that have had it so it is reassuring to hear this.

Hey You are healing great for 8 weeks. I had a pretty bad healing to what I thought was a bad circumcision. I looked really bad. Far worse than yours buddy. Took 12-14 months and I can honestly say I’m really happy with the results.

Thanks for the response. A few of my friends/family who had theirs seemed to have had a much better experience than I but it is very reassuring to hear your words. Appreciate it greatly.

I’m telling you now. It looked like my penis had been thru a meat grinder. I had a open wound from a burst stitch and purple bruising for several months. Then the swelling took ages to clear

Yeah my whole line of stitches on the back ripped for me on the 2nd or 3rd day it was looking pretty grim for a good few week. The healing has really hit a wall the last couple of weeks so I’ve started to worry a lot. It seems I need to be more patient and give it time. I am glad to hear you are happy with your result despite everything.

Doesn’t look bad to me they say 6-8 weeks but to settle it’s more like 12 months. Eventually the scars will fade to white 👍

I'm at just under 7 weeks now and would trade with you in a heartbeat! Looks fantastic the way it's healing so I wouldn't worry at all. I still have 'donut' shaped swelling underneath the glans and the suture scar is super prevalent and bumpy. By means of comparison, your healing process looks almost ideal.

Month four and seems like my recovery has gone into reverse. Scars healing well but very sore underneath by where one of the stitches was. Every time I get erect it gets very bruised underneath. Back on the waiting list to see the urologist ☹️
