I don't think they are real common...as with any surgery there is always risks. I had my vasectomy done 30 years ago... Had it on a Friday morning, kept my feet elevated and a bag of frozen peas on my sac all weekend.. Went back to work on Monday. Have never had an issue. Mostly I never even think about it.

The problem with vasectomies are, it’s a very complex and sensitive area they are working with. They don’t tell you that if you are unlucky enough to have a complication that there’s a huge chance that they wouldn’t know how to fix it.Complications can arise instantly or years later… which doesn’t help with “numbers”.

With the physical pain will come mental pain.

Urologists that deal with complications and pain are too far and few between. Other folks will “write you off” because they don’t believe that testicular pain can debilitate a man.

I know one thing is for sure- hindsight is 20/20, after all that my husband has endured and our family has suffered… I would NEVER recommend a vasectomy.

As for why some men never have problems- it might do with how they make their living.

My husband’s job was very physical-

Now we sit around wondering if he’ll ever be okay to work again.

Try researching support groups for Post Vasectomy Pain. Their stories can help you with decisions and advice.

I might have deviated from your question-

But I hope this helps 😊

Had my vasectomy about 16 years ago. Straightforward, though it was a bit of a production line with the number of men being 'done'. no real pain but I could feel something. A bit like having your nails cut ?Overall simple and easy, couple of days to recover and all good since. Sure beats the alternatives.

Thanks for your reply's I am one of the unfortunate who suffered from PVPS, I have been told that the number of men who suffer is as high as 15% hence the curiosity. It is most definitely a pain in the balls. Really I was looking to see how others dealt with this, it is great been sterile but hard to live with this pain.

Now I had never heard of PVPS before reading your reply. But strangely before my vasectomy I used to get the dull ache and sometimes an excruciating pain as if my balls where being squeezed. This got less and has now stopped, but it also coincided with a change in my work ?

More information should be available.

totally agree with your answer jaglad, not enough done except go home and get over it, because its all in your head, Urologists need to come clean

I had a vasectomy just over 3 years ago.

From my experience, never have it done as it seems the medical profession have a set view. That this a simple procedure.

That simple procedure, is what now we all think.

It was not a simple procedure me, with a number of ongoing issues.

I have seen a number of urologists who have no idea, therefore it's in my mind.

My job is not physical.

Common answer after that learn to live with it.

What utter rubbish.

Are these people professionals? Seem to have no interest in finding the reasons.

Times have changed men no longer need to be silent.

The medical profession has gone down in my opinion.

I dont trust them anymore. If they worked in my profession they would all have been sacked.

Not sure of my next steps, I have to admit I feel angry and let down.

Neither do I man, I had to be accountable for all my work and still do, we should have been awake to the facts about vasectomies when they ask us to sign a waiver that covers them we should remember that Dr's can bury their mistakes, I know of no other profession that you can cover your arse.
