I went to my GP complaining of difficulty passing water, itchy sore foreskin which would not retract, this went on for months and no examination was performed even when I told him I believed I had Phimosis. I also went to A&E because the pain was that bad and still no examination, later to learn that the Doctor lied on the notes, this has resulted in me having to be circumcised and created further issues. Are the Doctors at fault here?

Phimosis untreated leading to circumcision
I think yes, are you able to document it? Was this in the UK? I believe all of your visits had been registered and it must be obvious that they didn’t solve your problem - and didn’t really bother either.
This might be of interest. GPs should follow this: gp-website-cdn-prod.s3.amaz...
Thanks Osidge, I will use this to prove proper procedure was not followed. I obtained my medical records recently and the day I presented myself at hospital I was in agony and wanted it examined. The doctor has lied on the notes saying, “ patient says penis is not sore at moment and was unwilling to be examined” lying Bas#%^d
Good luck. . We all deserve good care.
Thanks Ken, long post alert. let me take you through the whole scenario, I am suffering significant cognitive difficulties after being in a coma with sepsis and multi organ failure two years ago. I went to GP to complain about itching foreskin with a little smelly discharge, was prescribed cream no examination. Returned two weeks later to inform GP getting worse and getting difficult to retract foreskin, prescribed different cream, informed GP when my catheter was removed on discharge from hospital the balloon wasn’t deflated properly and was extremely painful, no examination. Went back two weeks later and saw a locum doctor, she said it would probably need examining but wouldn’t be happening today, prescribed different cream. Two further visits to GP and still no examination. I retracted my foreskin which was agony to try and clean it as it was smelling. It would not go back. I drove to A&E and told the Triage nurse I had Paraphimosis and had to explain. I was in the cubicle and eventually I was asked to provide a urine sample. Then a doctor came to see me and asked about my medical history and then started talking to someone else whilst I was explaining. He then said your blood pressure has gone up, I told him it was probably due to being ignored. He asked the state of the penis and I told him foreskin is stuck in retracted position and extremely painful. He said it was a job for my GP and discharged me. No examination. On obtaining my medical records I noted he has lied, he has said patient has said penis is OK at the moment and patient was unwilling to have examination which is a total fabrication. Went back to the GP and told him what A&E said and he said you shouldn’t have gone to A&E. He finally examined me and said you need a circumcision. I had a circumcision 3 months later and since then I have been unable to get an erection. No side effects or future problems were explained to me and I never saw the surgeon, just the anaesthetist. I have just got hold of a histology report dated 15/01/21 saying clinical correlation is recommended after a circumcision for BXO. Sorry for the long post but have I been treated poorly here? it is now 7 moths since procedure and no follow up with either urologist or GP, the stitches also got infected as I left hospital with no dressing and two days of antibiotics. I have finally been referred back to urologist which is an appointment in two moths time. I am fuming and disgusted. Are their grounds for a complaint here bearing in mind they all close ranks. Many thanks for listening.
Mike
Thats what doctors do instead off trying to save foreskin ,its easier to chop it off ,lie and give cream that make it worse, i asked to see urologists never happened straight to local doctor for circumsision ,thats it was not told anything about keeping penis upright afterwards to help with swelling was not told or given any after care or advice
It’s a disgrace mate, I have a law firm looking into it as I was also mis managed when I had Sepsis. When I arrived at hospital the paramedics had written Red Flag Sepsis on the notes. I wasn’t screened for sepsis for three days by which time I was in an induced coma.
If this was done within the NHS I was unable to see a Urologist for my Phimosis unless I was referred by a Doctor. Fortunately, I had a good doctor who during the pandemic referred me without examining me, my symptoms were very clear just through description.
That is true, and it's frustrating that many of them are not even doctors, just nurse practitioners.
Yes I did and quite quickly after the referral. into week 6 now and it is healing well. The stitches have dissolved and the swelling is going down. Soaking in salt water has helped although I still have some lymph but this is clearing up. I think my foreskin had adhered to the head whilst I had Phimosis as I was unable to pull it back hence lymph still being there but it is going. It all takes time and it has been interesting times adjusting to my new friend without his coat!!!😁
No offense to you meant, but you really have some responsibility. After the fact, you’ve found this site. It was here when your problem began. Where were you then?
Sorry Jim, are you referring to me in the responsibility sense. This has been a long road trying to get answers so I thought I would seek advice elsewhere. It is a forum after all.
But now you’re here.
I was recovering from a serious illness, any way jimfromcalif what does that have to do with you, I don’t see moderator or admin on your profile. Are you vertically challenged.
Your story helps reveal how ignorant and unhelpful most doctors can be, when it comes to the male penis. A fellow begins to think the subject isn't ever discussed in medical school ... and if doctors don't know .... how are we able to decide what should or shouldn't be done?
