My Urologist providing me two options one is local anesthesia and general anesthesia. I don't like the idea of general and shutting down my system. Did anyone ever go with sedation/twilight anesthesia for circumcision ?

Anesthesia for circumcision
Always general...I never offer local
There is no issue with local anaesthesia for this type of op. I only had a spinal block for an Achilles’ tendon reconstruction. GAs are best avoided.
If you are fit and healthy with no other medical problems, I’d go for the general. Then you know you will feel absolutely nothing.
I had local because of the additional COVID risk of a general. Didn’t feel a thing and able to leave the hospital after an hour of recovery. I’d definitely do it again. Guess it depends on how twitchy you are and whether you can keep still.
Should have added that I had no side effects from the local anaesthetic. No drowsiness, no nausea, felt fine and took painkiller to keep on top of the pain once the anaesthetic had worn off.
I had local the only fear was the injection(I have fear of needles) at base of penis but it wasn't to bad tbh. I would suggest going local as after effects seems less annoying than general.
If you pay the circumcision by yourself, I'd rather choose local anaesthesia. It looks like in USA private hospitals just milking up the cost by using general anaesthesia, because they can get more money from your health insurance.
Here in Europe adult circumcision in private clinic cost around 700-900 e.

I had general anaesthesia, it was a really good experience. Put the cannula in and suddenly saw black. You feel awake but see black, gave me a small sense of control, which helped. The gas smelled of mild varnish.
From when my eyes closed i counted 7 seconds till i woke, but 1hr 40 mins had passed. Found myself in a warm hospital bed and was fresh.
My penis was numb and sensitive, not painful. Urinating for the first time was fine. My op was at 11.20am and left the hospital 6pm, spent time in recovery then moved to the ward. I took my time, had a meal and they can only discharge you if you urinate, by drinking water provided.
However, i guess with any anaesthetic your body will take time to wake and there will be after effects.
For me after general it was tough, i felt so tired and was constipated for two weeks, its only now my body has started regular bowel movements and a sleeping pattern. Just eat healthy, i. E. Fruits, fibre and water, use OTC creams it will help in the long run.
I took full anesthesia and it was very comfortable for me. just fell asleep and woke up after the operation
I had it done under general.I was really nervous going in as it was my first time, We started talking and they couldn’t stop me haha, after a while I could eventually feel a chill relax sensation but kept on talking. Was first one in and last one to wake up. Think they had to up the dose but not sure.
I felt fantastic after, the most awake I felt in a long time. Not sure how many people get this good of a result though.
The one thing the guy doing it said before, you made it to the hospital which had a higher percentage of danger than having general.
I had mine yesterday and did the general. I've had a LOT of surgeries (mostly motorcycles accidents - plates, screws, etc) and since then I've actually looked forward to the anesthesia. I suffer from bad insomnia/racing mind and always felt relaxed going in and relaxed coming out. Never had a bad experience.
