Should skin auto cover head

Hi,

7 weeks since partial circumcision.

I had phimosis so no idea how a normal foreskin should be. Still a slight indent where the cut was stitched together.

After retracting foreskin, should it automatically go back over the head?

The frenulum was removed during surgery.

At the minute after I retract the skin clumps under the head, it takes very little effort to return the skin back over the head but unsure if it should automatically return.

Thanks

Foreskins vary considerably in the amount of coverage they give the glans, from almost none to a long overhang. Some retract fully and automatically on erection whilst others need assistance. Similarly, most will re-cover the glans as the erection subsides, but manual assistance may be needed. If your frenulum has been removed then it is more likely that you will need manual help with re-covering the glans. The sole purpose of the frenulum is to assist the foreskin to re-cover the glans.

Thanks for the detailed answer.

Not entirely sure why the frenulum was removed, have seen other posts of partial circumcision where it was kept.

It retracts automatically just needs help recovering manually. At least this is ok it seems then.

I was just worried if it were to retract when out it would swell as you shouldn’t be sticking your hand down your pants in public :).

Hey bud! Actually the same thing happens to me. I’m at week 5 and was wondering the same thing. It’s something I’ll ask my doctor in a check up I have in a week but its something that mostly happens when having an erection, it like clumps under the head but it’s not like it’s choking it. Maybe it’s a matter of time or maybe using lubricants.

Let us know what you get told. The only reason I’m not really worried is that when erect I can still pull pull the skin over the head so it doesn’t seem to be because it’s to tight.

I may be seeing the Dr who performed as I have a a skin tag (too much skin) in a small area creating a bump so will see what he says.

I think roddythescott is onto something, without the frenulum there’s nothing to pull it up.

I’ll definitely let you know! I haven’t experimented a lot yet because I still get a sort of “tight” feeling, like something’s pulling me down a bit when erect. It has gotten better compared to the previous week but it’s still a bit there.

So for now I’ll wait a bit more, also since I’m still a bit swollen where the internal cut was made I prefer to give it a bit more time, but from what I see skin can also go back over the head so I don’t think that’ll be a problem.

Let us know what your doc says! And yeah without the frenulum the body has to adapt

A problem with partial circumcision is that a very variable amount of the foreskin is removed and there is no guarantee that the remaining part will not tighten up again to form a new phimosis, or worse still cause paraphimosis when retracted.

Why did you only get a partial instead of a normal full circumcision?

In my case I didn’t know much about the different types and went with what my doctor recommended; also he told me during the procedure I got an erection so that helped him out. I still have to give it some time for it to heal 100% but I’m certain there’s no phimosis and I don’t think any paraphimosis since the skin doesn’t get stuck behind the head.

I had phimosis, NHS only offered full circumcision but I could get partial privately which I did. I wanted to give it it a try after reading loosing sensitivity when going full + I wasn’t to keen on how fully circumcised looks.

It sound like you had a bit more removed than I as skin is not stretched taught when erect.

I too had swelling after 5 week, my follow up appointment he said that’s because I hadn’t returned over the head. I was scared to break the incision open by pulling it.

The first day was really hard to return over head because of swelling. I squeezed the head after a walk in the cold outdoors, also applied pressure to the swelling for 5 mins to reduce.Once I got it over I held it there for a few hours watching tv. Next day was slightly easier. Day 3 til now a week later it goes over easy and stays over head all day.

Can’t give you advice but passing on info I was given, take it as you will.

How your now did your skin return when erect and it will come back easily or need to take back?? Partial circumcision result is ok or not?

Santiago9324 profile image
Santiago9324 in reply to Harsh_patel

Hey bud. Skin moved back normally when erect, still a bit sore on the scar line but got prescribed a cream yesterday that I’ll start to use to help with the healing. (It’s that it’s tight, it’s just sore since healing on scar tissue is still going on). For now the result is okay, it’s just a matter of giving it more time for the scar to heal.

Howmany time you give to heal?? Which type of scar happen ?? After erection does skin back to normal easily or need to take manually?? I think need to take manually now it’s my 25 days of partial circumcision but when erect at night after that skin sometimes stuck to head make pain but not going down looks like something pulls it

After an erection skin could need help covering the glans again since the frenulum was removed. Things definitely got better as weeks go by (since month 3-4) since is in my case when the scarring began to get better.

When I was at day 25 it also happened what you mentioned, I was still sore and with a bit of pin, skin got “stuck” underneath the head especially caused by the skin where the frenulum was, but as time went by it began to heal and facilitated the movement more and more.

I had a check up with a dermatologist yesterday and got prescribed a cream to help with the healing of the scar tissue; since we had a partial and skin is still “underneath” or “covered” it could take longer to heal vs a full circ.

You have done before howmany days?? Did you have any yellow discharge coming on day 25? After 6 week i can go to work?? Scar tissue is on foreskin or which side bro?? Please help me because i see very rare people doing this.. have you problem with phimosis only when erection does? In partial circumcision skin attach to below glans? Is it same with you?? It become bend in flaccid condition

Santiago9324 profile image
Santiago9324 in reply to Harsh_patel

It’s been 5 months since I got the surgery because of phimosis.

Yes, yellow discharge can still happen, mine completely disappeared by week 4-5

, it took a big longer than others.

Scar tissue is basically the line that goes around, where the stitches were before, you can maybe feel it’s a bit tight or sore as it still needs to heal.

In my case in an erection the glans fully uncovers and the skin sort of stays below the glans, so I think you’re describing exactly that and it’s normal as long as you don’t feel like it’s strangling or anything.

It’s hard to judge without seeing it but it seems we’re the same. If you have any doubt it’s always good to consult your doc or get a second opinion from another doc.

I tomorrow going to consult other doctors and yes i thinks it looks same of our.. now i also getting pain and veins getting hard when get night erections.. i am more worried about yellow discharge because it a lot time now still i have so it looks like infection scared... below the glans it looks still i am healing and now have you done masterbate?? Which time is good for masterbate?? And no pain glans sensitivity hurt when erection??

Santiago9324 profile image
Santiago9324 in reply to Harsh_patel

Yes I also had pain with night erections but it was mostly caused because of the healing the scar line/tissue was having. As long as you don’t perceive any foul smell, or fever or any alarm signs I’m sure it’s ok, it’s just taking time to heal.

I masturbated since like week 6 and did it very slowly and carefully. Glans sensitivity will happen but it just takes time to get normal.

Thank mate i think i have no fever very little sweet smell but it sometimes come and sometimes no come don’t know maybe urine mixed up or infection? Now on 5 month you can do anything sex or masterbate?? Which days after night erection not hurt because still I can’t sleep more then 1.5 hour with emty bladder also penis goes erect fast

Santiago9324 profile image
Santiago9324 in reply to Harsh_patel

If you have a doubt you have a infection you should definitely get checked out by a doc, just in case :)

Yes at month 5 I can masturbarte and have sex but still carefully.

I understand, night erections in my case stopped hurting at month 2 or 3. You can ask your doc for something to help with the healing of the scar tissue (perhaps a dermatologist like I did since the know more about scar healing than urologists)

Yes bro i will show scar line to dermatologist after some healing done then.. now i can not take my skin back because it hurt a lot when i try so i do dressing at hospital every 2 days as doc recommended.. does you can able to take skin back falccid time? After 1 month?

Santiago9324 profile image
Santiago9324 in reply to Harsh_patel

Harsh_patel profile image
Harsh_patel in reply to Santiago9324

I don’t know why i get more pain in flaccid also due to not heal?? You are doing cleaning everyday at home?? On day 25 you can do cleaning at home??

Santiago9324 profile image
Santiago9324 in reply to Harsh_patel

I’ve been cleaning it normally since the beginning, skin in my case has been very Sensitive and with some pain that has gotten better as time goes by. It’s easier if the doctors take a look at you to assess your case

Harsh_patel profile image
Harsh_patel in reply to Santiago9324

Hello my friend i go to second doctor because as my first doctor who done partial circumcision i show him yellow red stuff with sweet smell he say its protein coming don’t worry but as i show to other doctor he say it is pus and give me antibiotics and cream and one more things above frenulum part foreskin that cover glans has deep cut inside foreskin do you have this type?? Because it hurt a lot when i do anything try to pull skin back it looks like when i pull back skin breakdown and remain same pain.. i see doctor he say first we remove infection after do treat cut skin.. first i worried because before surgery i can pull back full skin when flaccid only erection time problem.. now flaccid also I can’t pull back fully but i think that because a pain due to skin cut ..
