Day 13 Post Circumcision - Dry/flaking/wrinkled head of the penis

Hi, please can someone tell me what I can use on the head (glans) of my penis post circumcision? I am on day 13 and it has started to go dry and slightly wrinkly compared to what it has been like. Is this normal for the healing process and will this resolve or will it be permanent? Also, any tips for quicker recovery? It is healing fine, however the process has seemed to be slow and I’m worried I won’t be comfortable when I got abroad in less than 3 weeks time. Always anticipated the recovery to be 2 weeks however I now know it will be longer. Thank you

Applying Vaseline will help.

I used vaseline and there was a lot of improvement by the next day

Moisturising the glans is not necessary. It is best to let the glans dry out as this will help dispel the excessive sensitivity to ordinary, everyday touch.

Healing is a naturally slow process and will take 6-8 weeks to complete. Don't try to rush things, your body knows best.

Thank you for your advice. Do you know if it remains dry or eventually does it heal and go back to normal? This morning particularly has been the driest it’s looked so far and would hate for it to stay like that forever

When your glans is encased in foreskin a lot of natural lubricant is needed to stop the two sticking together, so the glans is kept very moist and slimy.

After circumcision it is no longer supplied with this lubricant by the foreskin and so dries out to its natural state - one of the advantages of being circumcised!
