Swelling post circumcision behind glans

Hi everyone, I’m on day 4 post circumcision due to phimosis. Everything looks good and healthy no signs of infection whatsoever but I do notice a donut shape ring behind the glans. Doctor said it’s normal which is understandable considering blood vessels and lymph passages were damaged during the circumcision. I’m wondering if anyone else had the same thing. It is significant swelling in the shape of a donut behind the head but infront of the stitch line. I have a high and tight cut. Any tips on how to reduce the swelling besides soaking in a hot bath?

Hey man, I had my circumcision 24 days ago and swelling under the head is still bad. Luckily no pain but just an ugly site to look at. I hope it goes down soon. I visit doctor next week for follow up.

Do u have a donut shaped swell or is it the whole shaft?

It’s only the bottom of head

You are extremely early in the healing process to be worrying about swelling. Please read some of the multitude of postings on that subject.

Some guys have varying degrees of swelling for months. The forum as even had reports of residual swelling at a year.

The only thing that concerns me would be the pocket of swelling behind the glans that is filled with lymph becomes infected

The 'donut' of swelling just behind the glans is where the former inner skin has been retained by your 'high' cut. The inner skin (which is not ordinary skin but mucosa) is very prone to extreme swelling, so this is to be expected with a high cut. Those with a low cut don't normally eperience so much swelling.

Just give it time. You are very early in your healing which can be expected to take at least 6-8 weeks for completion.

Thank you very much do you recommend anything to help the swelling. I don’t want to resort to anti steroids or drugs yet i want to let it naturally resolve.

Hi, it's normal to have swelling especially with a high cut your inner foreskin is very susceptible to swelling you could try using Ice to gently massage I found it helped me.

Hi man - i know it has been some years already but im facing the same problem (after partial circumcision 12 days ago). No pain, little irritation, stitches coming out, BUT this donut or ring kinda swelling behind the glans is so annoying and I’m so afraid it doesn’t go down. It may be a little bit better than a week ago but it seems the lymph cannot escape. I’m so curious to hear if and when it got away in your situation. Can you pls tell??
