Antibiotic ointment use after circumcision

Discharge papers say to apply antibiotic ointment to stitches twice a day after dressing removed. It doesn't say for how long to continue that. The ointment labeling itself (Neosporin) says to consult Dr. if need to use longer than 7 days.

I'm just wondering what's the typical duration of use of such ointment after the operation. Or should it be used like on first 2 days and only "as needed" thereafter, etc.?
