Post Circumcision Concern

Hi guys,

I had the circumcision operation on the 3rd of March so roughly a month and a half ago. I've had a few complications since then and I'm seeing a few more concerns now. The attached pictures are what I believe to be a piece of skin that should not be exposed to the surface and appears to be slightly bloody. Can someone please take a look at this and advise me?

Well, have you used any non-adhesive gauze on it? It's not help at all, if the wound get ripped off every day, when it stuck in your undies. Your journey has been quite long. Do you have any health condition like diabetes on background? Have you asked you GP about healing?

I was advised against using any restraint such as a gauze and to let the air at it as it is apparently the best way to heal. Yes it is painful when it gets stuck to my underwear but I'm not so sure on what other options I have. I do not have any health conditions whatsoever. I ended up in hospital 2/3 weeks post-op as a result of infection and they said everything is fine and will heal in time which I find very hard to believe given the discomfort I find myself in on a day to day basis.

I do not know how to even explain the situation if I were to ring my GP or the urology department in the hospital. I wouldn't even know what that bit of skin is to sort of give them an idea of what my current situation is.

So what do I do going forward. How do I get on the right track to heal correctly.

I don't blame myself in this as I have literally been doing as I have been advised my the professionals 😀

That does look like a bit of a challenge. I ended up getting a little bit of contradictory medical advice from different urologists. The one who did my circ said don't put anything on it and let it be exposed to air. My more usual urologist said go ahead and put some bacitracin on the cut line. Considering your experience, I'd be inclined to try some loose gauze to give the spot time to heal without the trauma you seem to be experiencing.

Hi, it does seem to be quite slow healing for you but we are all different and some people just heal slowly. I would wash gently with some salted water and if you could use a little non adhering dressing on the worst patch and use some gauze wrapped around it during the day. I notice you are quite hairy as well I would trim this as the hair will stick to your wound and irritate it.

Not what you're looking for?
