How long does hyper-sensitivity last after circumcision?

recentlycircumcised2 profile image

I’m on day 4 of recovery and its a nightmare! I can’t even wear silk underwear it just hurts too much. So I’ve basically been naked for the past 2 days. Also are there any products I should use to reduce the sensitivity of the glans?

I got fine in 25 days

The first thing you want to do is control the movement. Snug fitting briefs are best.

You can also rub in some Vaseline, coconut oil or other oils (not scented) on the glans. Rubbing the glans with whatever oil helps you get over the sensitivity because you're touching the glans and getting used to the touch at the same time.

I'm intact but keep my foreskin retracted. I used a snug fitting jock-strap to get over the sensitivity. Now I can wear boxers or go commando with no problems.

Timewise everyone is different and if you had phimosis, it will take much longer.

It will get better. Good luck to you.

May I ask why you keep it retracted?

I like the look and when I was growing up I was the only intact kid.

I was never teased or anything, I just felt out of place.

My uncomfortableness was due to the glans rubbing, getting stimulated and I would get constant erections for a week. It didn’t hurt though. Felt good.

I wore tight underwear and wrapped the penis with gauze I smeared Vaseline on. After a week it was fine and now I still feel the sensations of rubbing, I’m just used to it and it doesn’t arouse me as much anymore.

That's what I worry about. Ideally I want to get back into my routine by week 3 or 4, but perhaps that is not a good estimate.

If your foreskin was never retracted very much then 3-4 weeks is probably not long enough time. Were you ever able to fully retract it?

use organic extra virgin unrefined coconut oil on glans and penis.

Each person is different! I'm on day 8 and my sensitivity is bearable now. For the first few days I just kept it bandaged and put Aquaphor (similar to Vaseline) on the stiches whilst only wearing tight fitting underwear and kept my penis facing upright! I have a very rare skin condition called Lichen Sclerosus which causes the discomfort that I do feel. Otherwise, the rest if my glans has grown accustomed to the feeling.

It took me 7 months to feel normal again.
