Indeed it is, and about time too.

It's not about time. It's about foreskin fetishists trying to discourage guys who are considering circumcision from having it done.

Be careful of any anti-circumcision advice. The intactavists have declared war on circumcision, both infant and adult.

Surely it is about personal choice ?

But ALL information should be available to make an informed decision.

I am just surprised that most people are so extreme. How about performing partial circumcisions on infants instead of complete ones. This was the original biblical circumcision where only the redundant end that extends beyond the glans is removed. This would have health benefits and it would guarantee that a man can have an uninhibited erection in the future. Remember a babies penis is not exactly at its full potential lol :)

I suspect that those who objected had not watched the interview. If they had they would have seen the urologist say that phimosis is natural in childhood and he admitted that the medical profession have been performing circumcision unnecessarily but times are changing especially in the UK. Circumcision is rare in the Nordic countries and most of Europe. If surgery is necessary there are other procedures such as preputioplasty which preserves the foreskin and the nerve endings. As you say, a babies penis gives no indication of what the boy will grow into after puberty.

The circumcision rate has continued to fall in the UK and non-therapeutic circumcision is not available on the NHS. However, the situation is very different in the USA where circumcision is a cultural practice and is a profitable business for the medics. I suspect that most of the extreme pro non-therapeutic circumcision comments are from the USA. The clue to this is the use of the word Intactivists in the posts.
