I was told by the nurse I saw that the hormone tests are completely unreliable. I’m also 43 and having symptoms and my hormone levels all came back normal. She recommended I have a Merena coil (I’m currently on the depo but it’s not got enough progesterone) and start HRT.
From what I've learned through reading and studying this stuff, it seems like you need progesterone only. Heavy periods indicate low progesterone. Doctors just want to cut out all your reproductive organs (hysterectomy) to remedy the heavy bleeding. Do some research about progesterone and see if it sounds right for you. God bless you.
I had heavy periods but accidentally discovered fibroids when I became anaemic after a scan.
I’d probably wait until the bloods come back unless you have other symptoms. I kept feeling cold which I dismissed and kept getting thrush which I certainly didn’t make a connection with.
