How long do you give new HRT to work?

GP says 3 months. My body feels that's too long, coping with the side effects.

Personally I would rather give new HRT 6 weeks to see if that's suiting me.

What is the consensus please?

24 hour lower back ache just like having a period

Hot flushes

Insomnia

Breathless/fatigue

Puffy under eyes - this started since the Conti patch

Dry skin

Dry eyes at times ( I work online most of the day)

You are only on a vaginal oestrogen cream? This is for local vaginal atrophy and will not help you systemically.

It is a transdermal cream I apply on arms

6 weeks is not enough in my view. Hormones take time to settle down and find a balance with your other hormones. I am in months 4 of a new HRT gel and I feel symptoms are starting to settle and I am feeling better.

It’s super annoying to feel c@$p for so long, and I nearly gave up after Xmas, but now I am glad that I stuck with it for longer.

Good luck and I hope it works out for you

I had weight gain (now slowly coming down), sore boobs, night sweats, restlessness and anxiety, low mood and no energy to do anything.

All of this is now improving. Some of it is gone (boobs & night sweats and restlessness). I impressed myself with my stamina exercising the other day 😂

I hope that helps

that helps so much you don’t even know

I hope you are able to give your body a bit of time to get used to it. hormones are a rollercoaster and they need to settle down.

Difficult thing is to decide when enough is enough

I was also on the gel but it didn't help my symptoms at all although I didn't bleed on it.

In my past years, whenever I missed a period, I would test for pregnancy and I showed as positive straight away. I suppose that is looking at hormones and the test showed positive almost immediately.

I have hypothyroidism and at every medication dose tweak, GP sends me a repeat blood test at 6 weeks.

Based on the above, I put this post up.
