Estrogel advice

Hi

I am 65, 6 weeks ago switched from compounded HRT cream to Estrol Gel and separate oral Progesterone 100mcg.

So far I've been using only 1 pump a day of gel (and the progesterone) but I have developed tender swollen breasts.

I have temporarily stopped both but can anyone suggest what to do? I can't contact my specialist for another week or so

Many thanks

Andrea

Hi Fritillary - it’s most likely the utrogestan, it can cause painful breasts. Were you using a progesterone previously? Also, what dosage was your compounded oestrogen? It could be that you’re receiving more oestrogen with the gel than you were on compounded and that’s causing temporary breast discomfort. The discomfort usually eases when stable on the correct oestrogen dose but I’m afraid the progesterone is more difficult to deal with if that’s the culprit.

Not what you're looking for?
