Hi, Thanks for accepting me to this group, having been diagnosed with a meningioma tumour 2 weeks ago, following a seizure, and having been referred for surgery to remove it. I've had a bit of a panic this week, after Googling the spelling of the name of my neurosurgeon for a DVLA form, and finding several web reports re. medical negligence investigations into his practice. I appreciate that all neurosurgery is risky and that journalistic reports won't necessarily be objective, but the reports have scared me and I'm in the process of trying to find more information about the neurosurgeon and the hospital dept.. I've also been advised to request a referral for a second opinion at a different hospital. I'd be incredibly grateful for any advice re. how to find reliable information about surgeons' and hospitals' track records on undertaking such surgery, both to try to make a judgment about whether to proceed with my allocated neurosurgeon and also re. which hospital to request for a second opinion. I live in the West Midlands. Many thanks, Claire

Hello and thanks for your post. It's understandable that you are looking to get as much information as possible about specialists who may be treating you. We have some information on how to chose a centre, which I hope will be helpful - there is also a link to information on how to get a second opinion on that page: thebraintumourcharity.org/b.... Please also specifically see the Tessa Jowell Centres of Excellence. I hope this helps. Please do reach out to the Support Team if you need further guidance or support: 0808 800 0004
