Looking for alternatives to surgery as options for benign meningioma

I was diagnosed with petroclival meningioma in 2011. The tumor was 5cm so underwent an 8 hour surgery followed by gamma knife surgery after 6 months of the surgery. The tumor was not showing any signs of growth until 2019. I had a baby on July 2018 and think the hormonal changes caused the tumor to grow back (no evidence to prove this). Since 2019 the tumor has been growing back and is around 4.2cm therefore consultants have suggested to go for a surgery in Oct/Nov this year.

Has anyone else in this group been through a 2nd surgery for petroclival meningioma? Post the first surgery I have double vision on my left eye and constant tinnitus in my left ear. The consultant has suggested to go through a different route this time as it's too risky to go through the same route as the last time. This will be through my ears which means there will be loss of hearing in my left ear. Appreciate if anyone who has been through a similar experience can share their thoughts as I am really speculating taking a second opinion.

Also is no other alternative than to go through surgeries/radio surgery/radio therapy for benign tumours. Would any lifestyle changes help and result in the tumor to grow extremely slowly or not grow at all?

Hi

I'm on my fourth occurrence and have had a mixture of treatments.

Too long to type. Please read my account here; amazon.co.uk/Fightback-Brai....

Be blessed.

Cheers, Jay

I cannot imagine your strength and resilience to go through this for the 4th time. Thank you for sharing the link - purchased the book through Amazon and look forward to reading about your experience and hopefully find courage to go through the next one.

Thanks. You will find your strength and resilience, I am certain if that.

If you do buy my book, I'd appreciate if you could leave a 5 star review to help spread the word for the cause.

Be blessed.

Cheers, Jay

Hi Jason, sorry to hear about the recurrence. I have followed your story through the book. I found it informative, reassuring and funny! I admire your strength and positivity . Hold on to hope “even a single thread …is still a very powerful thing. Grab onto it with both hands and never let it go”.
