Anyone need pictorial/easy read help?

Hi everyone, I have been busy away doing a lot of work with my art studio and a good friend/fellow artist from there, with staff help we are helping a arts org in Scotland become accessible to artists with LD and/or autism by making up a accessiblility pack for them.

I have a subscrition to widgit online so can make anything pictorial for you and post the PDF file for you to print off and laminate,as it keeps me doing something when I am not working on my art projects as some of you may know? I am really struggling with my mums cancers and not being able to do my usual routine this year.

So I am wondering if any of you or your child or service is in need of any PECS, Christmas timelines to let the person know when Christmas is coming and when decorations are going to go up/down-I have one of these on top of my normal PECS timeline every year, you laminate it and mark off with a marker as each day comes to help you process the changes) ,regular timelines, schedules (I made one recently for myself and others based on going for an IV injection/blood test), pictorial word searches (I made a really funny one for my support staff)....etc.....

just post what you want and I can make it straight away,I can even make pictorial fans (if you know what I mean).

I will post a photo of part of a new weekly planner my staff printed out in the office (a black and white printer) so I coloured it in with specialist Pebeo 4Artist oil based paint pens, took a long time to do due to neuropathy but staff are going to laminate it for me,and Velcro will be stuck on after.

I hope you are all ok.

Hi @LDAutie I do hope you could be the answer to my prayers 👍.

I have recently been assisting a family with an 18 year old with Learning Disabilities from birth. He has been assessed throughout the years and it is clear that he can follow pictograms and knows the meaning of what is being shown in the pictures. He has very poor memory and his grandfather, who is his main carer is very concerned about safety matters in the home. The grandson cannot understand the consequences of his actions. I know his grandfather is struggling to teach him how to do things safely as it is seen as a personal criticism which has an aggressive response from his grandson.

It is hoped that the grandson will be approved for a Personal Assistant who can work with him to improve safety and life skills but in the meantime I have managed to get some pictograms in place, but I can find nothing that covers safety in the home.

He will need picture instructions for the kitchen:-

- to avoid putting pans on the heat whilst empty and walking away.

- He is very careless around knives and will misuse them causing injury.

- He does not have spatial awareness.

- He doesn't understand that washing crockery should not be carried out in cold water.

- He doesn't tidy up packaging from food but leaves it on the kitchen surface.

In the bathroom, the bath has been removed for a shower cubicle as the grandson flooded the bathroom 3 times by leaving taps running.

- He needs help for the shower as he doesn't check the temperature of the water and has stepped straight into water that has mildly scalded him.

- he needs prompting to dry his feet before walking about

- putting dirty clothes and towels in the laundry basket

Obviously the embolden notes are more important at the moment. If I can get an idea of what is available to tap into that would be great, I'm even prepared to subscribe myself if needs be.

I have found and put together instructions on several other areas of his life but it is the safety issues that are a real concern and the areas I cannot find anything to use. I print different pictures and sequences and ask him what it is trying to tell him, if he knows then we can use it.

Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
