Hi guys, so I was told by someone. The problem is in care is that people are not trained well enough, it’s taken me a long time to work out but I’m getting there so you how do you feel guys about some parents on here we could go meet up and try to go on tv or talk together to someone important so I think the problems are that
people with high support needs need specialist housing and care with like oT physio things like but are been supported by people that don’t have enough experience training this is not acceptable this world is not just for people that don’t have a disability there needs to be specialist living for people with high support needs I won’t stop trying to make a change people with disabilities matter there just as important as everyone else ❤️
So to support people with high support needs there needs to be properly trained staff and there needs to be specialist places to live where the staff there are properly trained and not just say there trained
My sister is a nurse if she not done training she can’t go to work and look after people so why should that be ok for people with disabilities it’s not it’s not acceptable it’s disgusting it needs to change

That is a good idea if you can get people together in your part of the country. What about the BBC One Show, Matthew Wright. They always seem to be saying about people being let down and care is a big problem.
Totally agree with you the lack of proper training is the problem. Unfortunately the government don't see our adult children as worthy enough to provide specialist care and support which would cost too much. A good idea to keep highlighting this though and bringing attention to it on TV.
I really support this as total mismanagement nearly had my son sectioned and now he never comes out of his room.Trouble is G.P s and social workers take no notice if you tell them how things are.
And training in autism does discribe what this level of autism is like .
The biggest problem is that social care is underfunded and staff are poorly paid. Good quality staff are hard to find and the industry doesn’t always attract the best staff.
It will also take a huge societal change for people to view people with learning disability as valuable members of society who deserve the very best care and support.
Sadly LD is not a trendy issue like LGBTQ and doesn’t attract the same calls for equality.
I agree with everything you say, LD is a very low priority issue for the government . Carers job status I feel should be as highly regarded as nurses , most people or members of thier family may need good carers in thier lives eventually due to disability or age related , they should be trained and well paid. I also feel that unpaid carers who save the government millions should also be recognised and not just when carers week comes around when a few interviews say how valuable they are and then forgotten about . I have come across many carers in my sons life who have no idea about LD and have received no training from thier agencies and the pay is terrible
we are very fortunate in that respect. My son has a bespoke package of care. It’s very expensive, over £6k per week but he gets all the support he requires. It wasn’t easy. There was a lot of back and forth and now yet again we are going through a funding appeal with nhs and SS not agreeing on things but we’ll get there. It’s a full time job though and my son doesn’t even live with me!
