i decided to join this community because i feel so lonely. i’ve never felt this lonely before in my life. i moved here and i realized i don’t have anyone in my life besides my mom, i’ve been single since 2019 (and i haven’t had any romantic/sexual relationship since then) i honestly feel stuck. i don’t know what to do to stop feeling this way. i really want to start going to the gym to see if that makes me feel a little better, but last time i tried i just paid for the membership 6 months and i didn’t went, not even once, till this day i don’t know how the gym looks like on the inside. so yeah, im scared ill make the same mistakes. my mom is always telling me i need to try harder, but i dont even know how to do that, she thinks im lazy (sometimes i think that too) but i guess she doesn’t understand how hard it is getting up and try to do something as small as taking the garbage out (at least it is for me). so i’m hoping me getting to read all your experiences will make me feel more seen and understood, because i know im not the only one feeling like this,. i know ill get better someday, but right now im in a deep hole and im not sure how to get out.

I feel for you and I understand. Language matters and how we think about stuff matters... rather than "mistakes", try to think of everything as an experiment. What makes you feel even a tiny bit better? Going to the gym helps me because I am around other people, even if briefly. Still, I have to force myself to go. I hope you can find something that brings you pleasure or joy or play...for me, when I feel playful the depression lifts a bit.

hello and thank you for your answer! to be honest lately there’s not a lot of stuff that makes me feel better, sometimes reading does but it’s just me you know? i want to try and meet more people but at the same time i don’t do anything about it, i don’t go out so i guess that’s not helpful. thinking about going to the gym makes me feel anxious because it’s a really big change, i used to go and enjoy it but know it kinda scares me. i guess ill have to force myself like you do and maybe someday i will actually enjoy it. i’m really glad it works for you and that it helps you feel better. and thank you for giving me another perspective about my “mistakes” i’ll try to think about it.

Hello and welcome to the group you will find a lot of people here very helpful. Are you diagnosed with major depressive disorder? I am and I Journal a lot which may help you in order to get those feelings and fears out. I also use a breathing method called the five six seven method. Breathe in for 5 seconds hold it for 6 seconds and breathe out slowly for 7 seconds that usually helps with being anxious. Are there local shops by you that you could visit to get out and about and maybe meet people? Whatever it is that you decide to do start small and then increase things as you go try not to put too much stress on yourself all at once. Let me know how it goes. Wishing you peace and well-being doing your journey here.

Hi! I think the gym would be great for both mental and physical needs. It’ll motivate you more but that’s easier said than done. I see that you’re only 25, around this age its hard to figure out who you’re true friends/family are as you are still figuring out yourself. I don’t think you’re lazy. Sometimes I have a hard time even brushing my feet but I can clean my entire apartment within the same day. It’s your mind playing tricks on you, and you have to fight those negative thoughts back!

Maybe try finding local groups to go to at a library or ymca just to get out there and realize you aren’t as lonely as you think you are! God bless

Hi, I'm new myself and also have MDD along with ADHD and PTSD. So, yeah, I'm pretty messed up. But here is a community here, and the best therapy I've ever gotten was working with fellow "inmates" with the same or similar issues. Welcome!!!
