I am new here. I've been struggling with depression since I can remember. It seems like I get so relief and then it comes right back no matter what I do or don't do. My main goal is to not be inthe hospital. Not much of a goal for someone my age. Just hoping to get a few tips and remind myself I am not alone. Ty

Hello there and welcome to our group. You are in the right place you have found your people you will get a lot of support and great suggestions on here from caring people that have been there and understand how you are feeling. I suffer with major depressive disorder and have since the age of about 18 and I am now 54. I've had four bounce with it and this last one has lasted 4 years now so I can identify with how you feel with feeling hopeless and frustrated and quite frankly at your wits end cuz that's how I feel a lot of the time. I Journal a lot which seems to help and I am seriously contemplating taking up painting again because I loved doing that while I was in college I need to find hobbies that give me happiness and instead of focusing on my Doom and Gloom that seems to be a daily event I need to wake up fresh everyday grateful with gratitude that the Lord has given me a new day to be here and spend with my wonderful husband Paul. Focusing on the things that you have in your life that are positive instead of the negative thoughts would be helpful but it's hard with this depression I know. You definitely not alone and keep reaching out and there are a lot of people that have so many other ideas like yoga and meditation exercise breathing the Calm app anything and everything just to kind of take it day by day even hour by hour if we have to until we get back to a place where we begin to feel something other than depressed. I'm glad that you reached out and I'm relatively new as well I've been here since February but I found common ground with a lot of caring individuals here and I'm sure that you will too. Please let me know how you're doing and if there's anything else I can help you with I'd be more than happy to think of some other ideas maybe like volunteering at an animal shelter or someplace where you would find yourself out in the sunshine as Vitamin D is essential to to those of us that struggle with depression cuz we don't get enough of it. Are you on any sort of medications? Currently I take Pristiq 100 mg and Abilify 10 mg and they're not working for me anymore and they haven't been for quite some time so I know that needs to be rectified to people I know have told me that they are on Prozac and it helps them so I'm hoping that a change of medication could give me a boost up so I can keep my head above this water. I wish you well and we'll be saying some prayers for you tonight for your well-being. Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi there and welcome to the group I hope that you find a lot of friendly people who are supportive that have lots of good advice for you here I know that I do and I love this form and I hope you will find it helpful for you too. I suffer from major depressive disorder and I've had four baths of depression throughout my lifetime this last one has lasted 4 years that has been the most debilitating of my life. In addition my medications aren't working any longer so I've asked my doctor to put me on Prozac hoping that I can find some relief being on a new medication. I also Journal a lot which helps with the feelings of not feeling worthy or that I'm enough. I have self-esteem issues and self-loathing problems from suffering childhood trauma and journaling helps get a lot of those nasty feelings and memories out on paper which is very much a release for me so I can hopefully leave those feelings on the paper and not have them follow me any longer. I love journaling have you ever done that that might help you a lot try it if you haven't they even have books that have prompts for you to make it easier for you so you don't have to think about what to write about just gives you an idea and you go from there. I also practice meditation and slow breathing which is very calming for me try that too it could be very helpful for you. Do you see a therapist or a psychiatrist I wish that I could but I don't have medical insurance right now so I'm having my primary care physician prescribe my medication for now while I try to find some sort of health insurance to obtain. I am also hoping that you are able to stay out of the hospital and able to cope with your depression and anxiety on your own but if you're not don't be afraid to ask for help reach out always because you're always better being safe then sorry if you know what I mean. You will find so many supportive caring people in this form you will love it here I know I do please feel free to reach out to me anytime you want to chat. I'm glad you're here I found your people your tribe and you're in the right place. I'm wishing you peace and well-being take care of yourself.
