I saw a new psychiatrist yesterday because my previous one was not a good match. this new one offered me to consider TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) and it is for people who have not responded well to any medications. has anyone tried that and does it work? what's your experience with it.

I had TMS. The treatment is 5 days a week for 6 weeks. I have depression and anxiety. I have a really hard time leaving the house so the treatment was a real challenge for me. So following the treatment I wanted to keep up my momentum of leaving the house 5 days a week. I joined a gym. I wasn't really feeling any less depressed or anxious I was just feeling more determined. I lasted for several months. I have since returned to not leaving the house hardly at all. So I actually don't think the TMS helped me. I think only the treatment schedule helped. I would still encourage you to give it a try though. It might help you. Sorry I couldn't be more encouraging. I wish you the best.

I did a full round of TMS early this year and was fortunate that my insurance paid for it. During the time that I was doing it part of my testosterone therapy was stopped for about 3 weeks and I found myself having fatigue and brain fog and some depression. I thought the TMS would compensate for it but it didn't. After 3 weeks I was able to resume my full testosterone treatment and felt better after a few days. My advice is to first make sure your thyroid, testosterone and adrenals are functioning properly because they can directly affect your mood. In my case and which i found is common with about half the men doing testosterone treatment is that not only do I need the testosterone injection but I also need the female hormone stimulant of Clomid. You also want to make sure you get a full panel thyroid test and not just your TSH levels. I do think the TMS helped me in smoothing out the emotional highs and lows but what had the most impact was getting my hormones, thyroid and gut health in good shape. Also make sure you are eating a healthy clean diet and limiting alcohol and caffeine.
