Tomorrow is my six-year runniversary, so what better way to celebrate that than with a HU communal run?
I got back into Parkrun at the start of this year, so have been missing my longer weekend routes. It felt good to skip PR for a change and get back to the 10K distance today.
I wanted to set off early-ish, before the 40-mph winds kick in (forecast to arrive at 1). In fact, it was already quite windy, but fairly mild. Plus, the sun was out, which seems very rare at present.
I started off too quickly. Maybe I was just keen to get going. I ran past a man who was boxing as he jogged along, making sure to keep well away from his sharp jabbing hands.
Two people said hello – always a bonus in terms of morale.
There were a lot of large puddles from the overnight rain, so I focused on dodging those. There were also a lot of uncoordinated dogs to step around. Generally, they never get out of the way and expect you to do all of the manoeuvring.
It went well, though, and I set my fastest 10K time since July.
High point: the jangle of wind chimes.
Low point: another dumped mattress.
Hope everyone else had a good run. Looking forward to reading the reports as they come in.

Hi StephenLots of congratulations in order here! Congratulations on your 6th runniversary, congratulations getting back to 10k, congratulations on a PB and of course for taking part in this fabulous HU event.
I've been out this morning too (although in a warmer climate) and wondering who else was out and about. Nice to virtually run with you today 😀
Well done Stephen_UK , first report in. I love the dog owners who have their dogs at heel on short leashes but there were many either on extendable leads (😱) or none at all on my run today. It depends on location of course but it can be a bit dangerous.
That’s a great time for 10k. Happy runniversary to you. 🥳
Thanks, Dexy. I appreciate it. Dogs have been causing me a few problems recently – especially a scary grey one who goes for runners while his owner just stands there.
