Goodness me - it was wet out there today! 💦 We had quite a bit of snow yesterday evening but it turned to rain overnight, so this morning we woke up to rain! I ran later than planned - eventually setting out for my 10k mid afternoon. Although it was raining when I set off, I was lucky that it eased and then stopped as my run progressed.👍
Now, anyone who knows me on these forums will know that I don’t mind a little water and mud - in fact I relish the chance to splash my way through a few puddles! 😃 However… todays run was ridiculous 🤣 in that my route was thwarted on three occasions (!) when the puddles were just too large and too deep for even this keen and slightly crazy runner! Top left of my photo is one example, where I just turned around rather than carry on! This was just after the bridge you can see, the river had obviously broken its banks and flooded the surrounding paths. The photos on the left were runnable…well splashable!!
Needless to say, Garmin confirms this was not one of my faster runs 🤣 but it was fun! I also trudged up a grassy hill towards the end, which kept me above the flooded areas for a while but was really tricky to run up today as it was so soggy! !
What have your runs been like this weekend - if you’ve been able to get out at all? I know that snow has been a problem elsewhere in the country.❄️❄️

Good morning Sandra! That was a gutsy effort, even though you enjoy splashing about on your runs. No run for me this weekend. A calf injury from last Thursday’s run is keeping me off the trails I am afraid. Physio today. I enjoy running through fresh fallen snow; there would have been an opportunity for that yesterday. Running through puddles on trail runs is just part of the joy isn’t it?🤿
Physio was ok thanks. I have a damaged sheath which protects the achilles. She tested for a stress fracture using a small hammer (gently!). I have to give it cold and hot treatment, the first to reduce swelling, the second to encourage the generation of synovial fluid which will lubricate the Achilles! Makes sense when she says it! Follow up next Monday.
Thanks Sandra; I think that most of us are the same; a diagnosis and a recovery plan to work through makes us feel that the injury is on the way out. Moral support very welcome 🙂
Great pics Sandra . That reminds me of a run I did a few years ago where I just kept having to turn back in ever decreasing circles 😍 I love how you embrace the wet and the mud though 😊
Fantastic effort!!!! Those are more rivers and lakes than puddles and you even forded some of them. Sounds like you had a lot of fun doing it too. 😃
I went out yesterday with the intention of doing a gentle 4 miles after having had some vile bug for weeks. It didn't go quite to plan as I got horribly lost. After 6.5 miles I was still 3 miles from home and exhausted. When I found myself at the same train station for the 3rd time I couldn't resist the warmth of a dry train carriage dropping me home.
Well done Sandraj39 ,that looks a lot like our local cycle track, have waded around there a few times! No run for me, had to take Kenny's son to football practice, but they cancelled it at 5 to 9😬 and we'd already left! Grrrr! So I went and watched the end of parkrun and had a chat with friends ( he wasn't amused!)🤬 xxx
Goodness... very, very well done .... you got out ! It looks very, very wet. I have not run for ten days now... we have had wet yes, but for the last week ice and snow. The heavy snow yesterday was thawing,, but then froze as soon as dusk fell.
Another light shower overnight , about an inch has covered the ice and conditions this morning are dreadful. Light snow forecast again for most of the day!
I think I would settle for muddy puddles right now, ( not on your scale), and warmer. My indoor exercise has taken the fore !
I waded through floodwater recently, trying to keep my feet dry by walking on my heels ☺️ It didn’t work 😀. All I need to do is not fall in the mud, which I managed 😀
Your trail looks fun! Better in summer I guess but we can’t have everything 😀. It’s invigorating stuff and I bet you felt epic afterwards 🏃♀️💪👊
Agh re falling in the mud misswobble - that’s grim! I’m happy to go ankle deep but loads of this was much deeper so I had to turn back.😬 Honestly, it was fun - and I prefer a winter trail to the heat of high summer. I don’t do well in the heat!🥵
A guy on my recent marathon fell his full length into the mud, leaving him to have to complete the race in filthy, wet clothes, poor chap. It wasn’t too cold thank goodness 🙂
