I knew it didn’t bode well when I opened the back door this morning and Ben dog just looked at me disdainfully as if to say “You don’t really expect me to go out in that do you?” So I dragged him round the village, had some breakfast and waited in the hope that the rain would ease up. Then I thought about Jay66UK , Hidden , TailChaser , Katnap and all the rest of you VRBs braving the elements in your runs today, so put on my waterproof jacket and headed out. By km 4, it had turned to a light drizzle and by km 8 it had stopped, so I got the timing pretty spot on. Why, though, do motorists not slow down or even pull out, rather than speed through the deep puddles 🤬 My intention was a 10k Run at 7 min/km pace, as that is my aim for next week. Result 10k in 1:08:57, average 6:52. Perfect 👌Ready as I’ll ever be - just have to add another 6 (.1)😂
Last long run before GSR!: I knew it... - Fun Beyond 10K & ...
Last long run before GSR!
Just super....go you...! How lucky we are to have friends to inspire us! Xx
Great run Sandie - all set for the GSR now!👍
It really was wet today. But once you're wet..... 🤣 Great pace xx
Glad we could inspire you Sandie!! 🦆😁 x
Well done for getting out - it sounds like you got wetter from the cars than the rain. So rude.
I don’t know about you but I’m looking forward to taper week - slow short jogs.
You’ve so got this Sandie! Great pace. Don’t forget to wait at the finish for me! 😅
Well done for getting out the door! Not made it today. I’m away from tomorrow night but might try a short one before I leave. Good luck for GSR hoping to find occasional wifi so will keep a look out for the group photo! I agree the drivers down “our routes” don’t care one jot about soaking us and I’ve discovered the verges are very slippy if I try to get out of the way!
It was on the corner of Lincoln Road and Ryland Road in the middle of Dunholme, where it always floods when it rains 😡 I was in two minds but I also needed to do 45 minutes for the next step in my latest Strava challenge 😂 Have an absolutely fabulous time in Borneo. Can’t wait to hear about it when you get back!
Well done Sandie on braving the weather and getting out there. Is it EVER going to stop raining, do you think?
Its always better when you just do it. Nikki has done W5R3 ie 20 minutes continuous
Good luck with the GSR!

Some motorists just don’t think do they? Others don’t care 🙄
Sounds a great run Sandie, I’d say you’re all set for next week 🙂
Good run and sensible time. The adrenaline and bonhomie will generate enough energy for the extra 6,1k easily. GSR look out!😊
Thanks Beachcomber! I will be really happy if I can maintain that pace. It would give me a 5 min PB. I’m sure there will be pacers, so I am going to try to keep the 1:45 pacer in my sights but, as you say, the atmosphere will carry us along too😃
My 10 mile runs were done at a slower pace than the HM. Bit like 10k, I need to revisit the distance and try to go a bit faster. Won’t be getting to 1:45 though..you are a machine!!😊😊👍
It is actually illegal to splash a pedestrian with a motor vehicle, max fine £2000, IIRC. But getting a modern bobby to take any notice without 2 independent irate witnesses and video evidence will be your problem.
I had the perfect excuse for not running in this lot today, it's Sunday, and I work on Sunday. But then I get home and get to read all your wonderful reports!
Well done Sandie1961 . GSR won't know what hit 'em!
Poor dog! Bless im. Ah the joys of being tsunamied by passing traffic. Oh dear. Quite good to let off steam, cursing at them as they speed off and leave you dripping, the barstools!
Well, you nailed it, rain or not! So, well done. Great time and sets you up nicely for the GSR
Sounds like you're in a great place for next week. Go you! Look forward to reading all about it 🙂
Brilliant. And a smashing time. I bet you’re glad you went out after all xx
