Just over a year and 1000km later it's goodbye and so long to Drooper & Fleegle (Banana Splits). These guys carried me on the Amsterdam Marathon with Tailchaser and countless training runs, long and short, slow and fast. An incredibly versatile pair of road shoes that I will miss. Thanks for the miles and smiles! You live on through your laces now lashed to my still boxed and unused yellow G210 X-Talons.
Good luck to everyone with marathons to come this autumn!

Such a very sad day when you have to *lay to rest" your first pair of running shoes, 1000K is a excellent distance for your runs wearing them, are you just going to throw them in the bin or keep them somewhere as a reminder of all those wonderful runs ?
🤣 my 1st pair of C25K shoes went years ago Al! The pictured pair must be the 9th or 10th pair since. It's just a shame when you're pondering what pair to wear and these were the easy option for anything other than muddy trails.
I do now have 3 pairs of running shoes, during C25K I ran in ordinarily trainers but after I graduated and before my first parkrun I bought my first pair of proper running shoes, I have still got them but I don't wear them every time I go a run
I live a sheltered life; Drooper and Fleegle are new to me, but after a bit of googling I feel that, sad though their passing is, the world may be just a little less hazardous this morning. Enjoy your retirement. The age of psychopathic but faithful shoes may be coming to an end; but who knows? 😉
Rebel v3. I’ve got a pair, they’re very nice, light as a feather and bouncy/squishy, but mine won’t last nearly that long as my big toe is already wearing through at the front 😢
I loved my kinvara 5’s but the tops were like flippin paper and my toes poked through on day 1. I ran them into the ground though before reluctantly binning them
.They were £28 after all 😁
I saw a £ 38 pair of the v3 but while I was looking it disappeared and the next cheapest was £75. Hmmfff Still, not a bad price. Bright yellow though 🌝
£28! I’d have even more shoes if I could get any for £28! My latest Pro 3s were about £78 and I saved them for nearly a year before they had their first run out. My v3s are light purple, much nicer on the eye. I think they were about £75 too. They replaced a pair of Pumas which I had to send back as they were too narrow. Not going to bother with Pumas again, he and his brother don’t seem to realise that not everyone is a skinny bean.
Cheers! It's been this long since I have been able to reply. Normally it's just because I'm slow so fingers crossed I can reply to everyone else wondering why I've not yet replied!
when their time is up ,they’ve got to go - their race is run - it’s time for the new ‘shoes to shine !! Lol
My first pair lasted me five years , really pleased with them too - I replaced with a more recent model of the same shoe - they have a great track record Lol New Balance 1080s . I wouldn’t run without them !!
It really is hard to let go of certain pairs. I still have my Berlin Hokas with at least 1500k on them now with all the dog walking I’ve done in them. They will likely become the gardening shoes next. 👟 🌳 🌺
He’s not the only one, and I suspect he copied me as my first shoes were Bert and Ernie. Tomorrow I’m running in Kelvin and Gervaise, last week it was Purple Rain. Berlin Marathon was in Barbenheimer, Amsterdam was in Barbie Girls, Sunday’s run will probably be in PG Tips… There is a reason for all of them, but that’s another story… Yes, I’ve got a lot of shoes, but so’s Katnap 😂😂
I definitely think you should name them Week7, you’ll definitely be a more real runner 🤣 I hear Kipchoge calls all his shoes Keith… (no, he doesn’t really 🤣). Thank you 🤗
