It’s not big but it’s bold. We have a small group of three runners with events this weekend but they are all across various seas and in fabulous locations. It’s such a pity we couldn’t magically all fly to each place to support our VRBs in reality. What a hoot that would be! 🥳🎉🎈🤩
Anyway, let’s get the party started here.
⭐️ Our first superstar is Decker who will be running a mahoosive 53K in the Sticks ‘n’ Stones Trail Race in Ontario on Saturday. The route, in a conservation area, is described as “rolling, fast and runnable.” It also looks incredibly beautiful. Decker has run this one before three years ago so he knows what to expect but we can’t wait to read all about it and see some breathtaking photos ❤️ (oh, and read about all the food too 🤣)
⭐️ Not leaving Canada yet, we have our second superstar, admin aficionado, linda9389 who will be running the Royal Victoria HM on Sunday. This historic race starts and ends in the Inner Harbour in downtown Victoria and the course weaves through the quiet streets of Victoria and Oak Bay with stunning ocean views along the way. Sounds magical.
We know that Linda has had a few injury issues recently but she has battled through to get to this start line so we need to shout extra loudly and wave our pompoms even more vigorously so that she can hear us all the way to Victoria. Go Linda 🥳🥳
⭐️ For our final superstar we are leaving Canada and heading to France where we find Shake-and-run weaving her way through the mud and “up” trails of the Foulée Eymétoise 8K in Dordogne on Sunday. I couldn’t find out much about the course but I expect Shakes will tell us all about it afterwards. Just think of the downs and the hot chocolate afterwards Shakes!😋
Good luck Decker linda9389 and Shake-and-run . Beautiful locations. Decker; that is an enormous distance and your training schedule has been tight, but we have every confidence. At least the chances of being eaten by wildlife are lower than you are used to!
Linda, you have been through a lot to prepare yourself for this run; we are all with you, every step of the way. I have watched the sea planes taking off from Vancouver heading out to the Island; the views must be amazing from up there. Hope you have a great day which ends with a smile….and bling and good food!
Shakes; mud and hills don’t sound like a barrel of laughs, but you will have everything under control. Bon Courage. I am sure that you will have the apres run sorted out!
Chilly, but sunny, West Country pom poms waving excitedly for our epic international superstars! 🇨🇦 🇨🇦 🇫🇷 Have the best time, and can’t wait to hear all about it Decker , linda9389 and Shake-and-run ! ❤️
Thanks for the shout out IP. We're taking the ferry across to the Island this morning, then straight to the expo to pick up my bib and race pack. It's beginning to feel very real 🦋🦋🦋😍Good luck Decker (that's a bloomin' long way!!!) and Shakes, have a blast both of you 🥰
Oooh Decker ! 10 laps! But the course looks very pretty and sounds great! 😊Your course looks very pretty too linda9389 , so glad you managed to get there! Hope all goes well for you 😘
And really good luck to you too Shake-and-run on your French trail run!
Thanks IP and everyone else here! I am surrounded by my gear and snacks prepping for the run, still a bit unsure of what I’ve committed to. linda9389 and Shake-and-run I wish you all the best of weather and fortune this weekend. Looks like the weather here will be decent tomorrow. Hope you can say the same.
Fwiw, the French websites describe the La Foulée Eymetoise 8k route as mostly on roads (15k version is on roads and paths) and with 50m overall overall elevation gain.
thanks for the shout out and good luck to all VRBs running at the weekend. I still don’t know very much about my run on Sunday but there was a discussion about shoes this morning and those who have done it before recommended road shoes for the 8k as there is only a short stretch of track. It might be a bit muddy and slippery but nothing like the lakeside track the 15k runners will be facing. Last time I looked there were about 90 runners for my distance, with entries being taken on the day it should reach about 100. I’m not holding up much hope for bling or a goodie bag as that doesn’t seem to be a thing, but I might get a prize for being last🤣. Anyway it will be fun and my mates have promised to save me a seat in the cafe.
Thanks for the pom poms everyone, have a good run Linda and Decker I am in awe of that distance, I’d need my bike to even think about it! Stay safe you two and see you on the other side.
How great to have an international week of races! Have great runs everyone - I'll just go and check time zones in case I need to get up and wave at funny times... 🤔🤗
Good luck et Bonne chance Decker, Linda and Shake!!! Wow, you’re all running in beautiful locations. I’ll be wildly, shaking my pom poms and picturing you running in my mind as funnily enough I have visited all three places. I can’t wait to here about your races and see photos.
Sorry, a bit late but hopefully in time! Big, massive pom-poms shaking here all the way over to France and Canada!! Have the best runs Decker , linda9389 and my running buddy Shake-and-run !! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳💪👏👏
