RunWisborough 10k - beating the demons πŸ‘ΏπŸ™‚

Before I get to the actual race bit - I have to share that my anxiety πŸ‘Ώ nearly got the better of me this morning. Having looked forward to this race, which incidentally I have run twice before, I woke with my head full of gremlins telling me I couldn’t do it…I was too slow…it was a hard course…I would struggle to get round…blah blah blah! I told my husband I wasn’t going to go..etc etc.😞

I wanted to share this because it may help others who also struggle with worries, who also face these voices…for me, invariably worse in the morning. I have lived my life it seems, with them hijacking my plans and dreams…if you know, you know ❀️.

Anyway, despite this pretty rubbish start to the day, I pulled myself out of bed - and did exactly the opposite!πŸ’ͺπŸ˜€ I got ready and after my usual breakfast of porridge, we headed over to Wisborough Green for this really lovely (but hard!) community event. There is a 5 and 10k which start together, followed a little later by a Colour Run on the Green for the kids.

My husband wasn’t running today as he recently turned an ankle but one of my sons was - his work place was also one of the sponsors.πŸ™‚

Turnout was good and the sun was shining - the start was a little delayed due to the number of people deciding to register on the day.

Soon we were off on the two lap course and yes, it was as energy sapping as I remember due to the constantly undulating roads! Lap 2 definitely felt harder than lap 1 and it was great to return to the village green for the final flourish to the finish!

Timing wise -1:09:26 for me and 54:16 for my son, but perhaps the biggest takeaway for me was I beat the demonsπŸ‘Ώβ€¦again!πŸ™‚πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Well done to you Sandra! So pleased that you overcame your anxiety and how special to complete the same event as your son. Mentioning your husband not running today suggests you have perhaps run with three members of your family before. How special must that be?

Congratulations again πŸπŸ…πŸ…πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ‘πŸ»πŸ’₯πŸŽ‰πŸ˜Š

Oh they are so-and-sos aren't they these demons? I recently ran a 10K race that I booked last September and had been looking forward to all that time. I was staying in a hotel next to the start so was able to watch the whole shebang come together, the barriers, the other runners etc. I started to feel really queasy...no idea why, no one makes us do these races do they? Can you imagine if you pulled out at the last minute?

I left my husband in the hotel and got out there with everyone else, even though there was quite a while to the start. I felt better straight away, and of course, I loved every minute of my race.

My time was slower than yours, but I'm proud of myself for not giving in, and I'm proud of you too. That's a great time, especially on a difficult course. Really well done.

Absolutely brilliant run Sandraj39 and one to feel proud of. The Gremlins came for you but you batted them away. I really love the photos and what a fantastic thing to do an event with your son 😊 By the way, that's an excellent time you finished with πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
