The race I didn't make๐Ÿ˜ฅ...and a consolation run!๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

I was due to run the Jigsaw 10k this morning - a very local, very flat, fast 10k course on an old airfield. Having worked on my speed a little recently, I was hoping to run a decent time. Sadly, for reasons I don't fully understand๐Ÿ˜ฎ, my anxiety (which has been so much better since I took up running) kicked in big time last night and I tossed and turned worrying about the race. No idea why; I run the distance once a week (and further!) , preparation has been good, the race is local. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I bottled it!๐Ÿ˜”โ˜บ๏ธ To reassure myself I am not a complete failure, I went out for a10k on the trails this morning instead. I chose a flattish route and just went for it, trying to keep a decent pace. The cooler weather is definately suiting me and as Garmin bleeped away I could see I was on for a good time. End result - 58:18 and although not a PB, one of my fastest 10k runs. In fact it is a couple of years since I have run under an hour, so what was a rubbish start to the day has ended up feeling a little brighter! I guess every cloud has a silver lining!๐Ÿ™‚

Iโ€™m sorry you could not get out for your race Sandra. Itโ€™s understandable. Running is so mental. Itโ€™s hard to get out of our heads sometimes. Really well done on going out on your own anyway and crushing your trail 10k!! That is a great time and shows your doubting side that you wonโ€™t be pushed down next time. ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Oh no, poor you. Once those gremlins take hold they can be divils to shake off can't they. Amazing that you managed to turn it round and make such a great run this morning. Running is for you - and you did yourself proud. No more. No less. :)

Thank you Linda - I am being a bit kinder to myself this afternoon. We pick ourselves up and carry on running don't we?!

You definitely did. And in great style too ๐Ÿ™‚ It seems there are many hurdles along the way on everyone's running journey, but your determination has - and will continue to - win the day. You will carry on running in style as long as you are nice to yourself. Well done. Congratulations even x

I'm really sorry you had such a bad time with powerful gremlins, but really well done and getting out and nailing your 10k trail. I agree with Decker about the mental aspect of running. Always another race another time.

I am so pleased you went out and ran it out of your system, your speed work is definitely paying off. Huge well done Sandra. :) :)

A complete failure you are NOT! Sorry to hear your anxiety bubbled to the surface again, but you are amazing and can do anything. Kudos for getting out there today on your own and having a great run.

Well done, good run. I guess maybe you channelled your frustration at missing the jigsaw event? Its all a journey of discovery this running malarky

It's a bit bonkers - there was nothing about the event that I hadn't come across before! And yes, maybe I should channel frustration more often!๐Ÿ™‚
