Good morning running friends; we are moving towards the second week of June, but still awaiting proper summer weather up here. Sun tempered by chill winds and peppered by frequent showers is the pattern. We hope conditions are better for our imperious six runners this weekend. So, here we go;
We have:
🌟 Sandraj39 who is running in the RunWisborough 10k in West Sussex. Gosh this seems to be well organised with a focus on food!! Breakfast starting pre run, bacon rolls, cakes, burgers….might be hard to persuade people to go to the start line! Starting and finishing on the Village Green, with sports massage available at the end! They know how to live down there 🙂.
🌟 aliboo70 running the NeedlesHM which is of course on the Isle of Wight. Sounds like a mixed blessing! “One of the toughest and most scenic half marathons in the country!” Small and friendly with stunning views and cracking medals.” We know that she is up to the task!
🌟 The dynamic duo TailChaser and Katnap who are taking on the 40 years established Two Castles 10k Run. Described as one of the most beautiful 10ks in the country, they will run (uphill !) from Warwick Castle to Kenilworth Castle. The runs starts at about 50m and climbs up to 100m with a nice steep finish!! Enjoy 🙂
🌟 OldManRunning who is taking on the Swansea Half Marathon. As we would expect from Wales, this is a musical celebration too, with a World Class Soprano to get things underway, and an African Drumming Group, a Choir (of course) and more. The run is routed around Swansea Bay and the Mumbles. I might be tempted to stop to listen to the music!!
Finally, but definitely not least, we have the imperious:
🌟 Hedgehogs123 who is running in the Woodhall Spa 10k in a lovely rural setting in Lincolnshire. The run is described as fairly flat with huge PB potential!! Cake to finish….what more could we want?
So there we are. We wish all of our runners a fantastic day out on Sunday, no post run niggles and we look forward to hearing all about it in their post run reports. Not loud enough?
HAVE A GOOD ONE EVERY BODY !!
So, every one, a couple of warm up swings of the arms then GET THOSE POM POMS SHAKING !!
🙂
From your team; Irishprincess linda9389 and me xxxxxxx
Thanks for the shout out Beachcomber66 - and good luck everyone.🙂👍
Btw - bacon roll will definitely be POST-run for me! I have run this event twice before and despite being described as ‘mostly’ flat is has many of those gently undulating roads that seem to slowly climb for ever(!) and I remember it as quite energy sapping! Reckon, I will have earned my bacon butty or burger at the end! My son is also running (but will be a long way ahead of me…!🤣🤣🤣)
🙂 I thought about extending the inverted commas to”flat” as well, but didn’t want to defame anyone! I am with you on the bacon butty timing; porridge and a cup of tea an hour before I go out is as much as I can cope with. They seem to be serving from an hour and a half before the run starts, so some runners may be tempted I guess. Your son can get the butties in ready for your finish!
big pom pom waving here in France and again in the UK when we return home tomorrow. Especially for the Kats tackling the Two Castles, it’s a lumpy course and I did not care for it when I ran it last year, but to that pair it will be like a training run with supporters and a medieval theme!!
Thanks everyone for the pompoms! This is my favourite route of the year, I shall be at the back of the pack but sure will enjoy it,hoping it's not tooooooooo hot! Good luck to all my fellow runners in their races, a great assortment there!! 😊👌xxx
another busy weekend for HU racers! Good luck everyone and maybe you’ll be grateful that it is a bit cooler than it should be. Bring back some nice bling!
Beachcomber 66 I must offer my apologies and return the accolades as I never made the Swansea HM deferring for health reasons. I suffered an unfunny turn the week before and ended up in hospital although I was cleared to leave before bed time with a clean bill of health for my heart and lungs after a number of tests. However they're still not sure what the cause was and investigations continue. I've cancelled all booked runs until November 😔 I am redoing C25k with my club and Marshalling parkrun preferably, but not always in a walking role 😁
Firstly this isn’t an apologies issue. What an awful thing to happen! Reducing your runs whilst investigations continue is 100% the right thing to do. I have experience of stuff happening, running connected, medics giving me a clean bill of health and whatever it was just going away and not coming back. We like to get to the bottom of things, at least I do, but it doesn’t always work out that way. I hope the medics come up with an answer and a fix pdq.
I managed a HM up in the woods and old railway line on Monday; just saying, that stuff happens and we can get back to where we were.; carefully and in stages. For now, take care. We are right behind you as ever 👍
