I did it!

I can't believe I'm writing this, but I actually ran a half marathon on Sunday! I did the Reading Half Marathon and had an absolute blast! I was raising money for Cancer Research UK and every time I thought about how much my feet hurt (I got a lovely blister, despite using vaseline) I just kept thinking about my mum (we lost her to cancer nearly 2 years ago) and all my friends who have been affected by cancer and it kept me going. The cheer squads and atmosphere was fantastic and I want to do it again next year!

That's an awesome way to run a first half marathon, what a great achievement.Running for charity, especially a large well represented one, really makes a difference doesn't it (especially when you have such personal reasons too). I bet your mum would be so proud of you. Would you recommend Reading as an event?

Thank you! I would absolutely recommend Reading. It was well organised and the cheering squads were fantastic - there was hardly anywhere where there weren't people cheering, handing out sweets and fruit and at one place even beer! The only thing I will say is that it is not a flat course. There are several hills, including a big one around mile three. I really want to do it again though! You finish in the football stadium which feels amazing!
