Hi there lovely runners and racers. We're off again!!! Get those pom poms ready, give 'em a shake, give us a cheer ... we've some serious supporting to do!!!
As ever, if you're racing this weekend and I've missed you, do let us know and I can add you to our cheer list!!!
Sunday is very busy. Starting at the top and working South -
We have several entries in the Great North Run this year - Beachcomber66 , Boss1973 , Deals1 and Dups too - quite the posse!
Comfortnotspeed will be running the Cheshire Half
Moving south, johnm12 will be taking on the Richmond Runfest Half Marathon and Cowladyrunning will be running thethe Wye Valley Tunnel 10k
Heading all the way down to the south coast, we have Nikasa777 and roseabi tackling the Brighton Marathon and (injury permitting) RunBrianRun will be running the 10k race in the same event
Then finally, again on the south coast, Bike_and_Run will be running the Torbay Half marathon (right on the back of his HM last weekend)
The very best of luck to all our racers - have a great one and be sure to let us know all about it once you've changed into some comfy footwear and grabbed your recovery drink of choice!
Have a great weekend everyone - happy running to those who can and, as always, patience and sympathy to those who can't!!!
The Marathon Team xxx
Edit: removed David_G as I should have had him down for GSR not GNR - apologies! added Nikasa777 for Brighton marathon, added Boss1973 for GNR, Cowladyrunning for the Wye Valley tunnel 10k

All the very best to you Beachcomber66 for your Great North Run Half Marathon on Sunday, I will be looking out for you while watching it on the television, are you allowed to tell us your Bib No.? if not I wish you a very good run, enjoy. π ππΎ
Thanks cheeky. I am just chilling after an easy paced 50 minute run. It feels good to have completed the training programme ( with my enigma variations!); a bit of a high which is currently displacing the fear!! I thought about your Diesel engine this morning as my average heart rate came in at 131 and VO2max stuck at 40 (not that the latter means anything). I am ready as I will ever be, so what happens happens. I am just planning to enjoy the occasion. π
Youβre going to ace the race BC, and itβll be such fun youβll be carried along on the atmosphere. The weather looks ok too doesnβt it? Think Diesel and keep chugging! πββοΈ
Thanks for the shout out, and good luck to everyone running this weekend.
I'm a bit nervous for my HM on Sunday as I had CovidJab2 yesterday and have been feeling really rough all day. Took the kids to school then got home, went back to bed after dosing up on paracetemol and gallons of water and didn't wake up until 2pm.
Feeling a bit better now but not sure how much is due to another handful of paracetamol or actually feeling better. Will have to see how things fair tonight and tomorrow.
I didn't have any reaction to the first dose other than a dead arm for a couple of days. This one's completely wiped me out but I'm really hoping it's just a 24hr thing and I'll wake up back to normal in the morning
Good luck everyone βοΈ Youβve done the hard work and now you can just relax and enjoy it all (only joking of course about the relaxing but you know what I mean π)
Good luck everyone and especially to our Musketeer (you know who you are π) Enjoy your races and dazzle us with your well deserved bling π Pom poms waving wildly from France π«π·
Thank you Linda. Iβm still hopeful I can make it to the start line. Iβm going for a short test run again this evening. Physio said to race if I wanted but to be prepared to pull out at the first sign of pain. I was pretty much in this mindset anyway. Good luck to all fellow VRBs racing this weekend. π
Good luck everyone! Iβm not doing the Great North Run, Linda9389 π Iβm doing the Great South Run (in October) πββοΈπββοΈ Iβll be cheering everyone on at Parkrun on Saturday then going to the National Running Show on Sunday π
Hi, Iβve not posted in a while, but I pop on to read posts when I can. Iβm running Brighton Marathon this weekend!!
Itβs been touch and go whether I would run, as my Parents have both been in hospital, my Mumβs cancer has spread and they canβt treat it anymore, sheβs now in a nursing home receiving end of life care!
I collected my number yesterday and started to get all emotional that races are going ahead, I am doing this for Mum and hoping to visit her on Monday with my medal.
If anyone cheers me across the line Iβll be the one crying, if I canβt collect my number without shedding a tear, who knows what Iβll be like at the finish.
Good luck to everyone running this weekend πββοΈππ
Oh bless, that is going to be such an emotional race for you. I have recently been through the exact same thing with my mother, and send heartfelt sympathy. Will be thinking of you tomorrow.
Go, go, go and have a really good time. ππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππͺππ
Good luck all! I'm doing The Wye Valley Tunnel run 10k on Sunday. First race I have entered and I'm going on my own! Been too busy in first week teaching in my new school to be nervous but also meant no time for running this week π¬
I didnβt run in the Black Country 10k Road Race this morning but I did get out there to cheer people on and clap everyone home ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»
