Hello everybody

Hello everybody, I thought I would introduce myself. I haven't posted much for a while on either the C25k (graduated last Nov) or the bridge to 10k forums. Apart from being sick as dog (covid) for much of December and injured (forefoot sprain) for much of January there hasn't been much to post.

Today things are very different but i shall come to that shortly. Whilst unable to run I did do lots of strength and flexibility work. No big sessions but thing like doing calf raises every time I waited for the kettle to boil. I even managed to do 250 squats a day for a week by just doing 5 minutes of exercise here and there.

I started running gently again a couple of weeks ago and felt a lot stronger and looser. Today I decided to see if I could better my 10k PB of 58:43 and managed to better it by just over 4 minutes with a time of 54:36! πŸ˜€ To say I am utterly delighted would be a massive understatement. I must resist the temptation to train far too hard and pick up another injury. That was so frustrating that I nearly put my running shoes on ebay. It is so good to be running properly again!

This is phenomenal RiceAndPeas ⭐ A massive well done to you. I think all those little things at home (the 1%'s) all add up to get you where you are now. You're so right in wanting to keep building steadily so that you continue to be consistent but don't get injured again. That's a brilliant 10k time πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

Many thank GTFC , yes I must remember my age, allow enough recovery time and build up slowly. It's a bitter pill to swallow but nearly as bitter as getting injured! πŸ˜„

That's amazing ... awesome time I am slowly training to try and break 60 mins for 10k so I am in awe of any person who has. Well done!!!!

Thanks so much taichi1 , that is very kind of you. I raced bikes for many years and it was only 5 years from my last time trial to my first run so still had a decent engine despite piling on a bonus 4 stone! Keep working towards your sub 60 minute 10k goal. I'm looking forward to reading a celebratory post from you once you get there! πŸ˜€

Wow that's just amazing!!! I have had some long spells of injury that have been dreadfully frustrating, but the comeback has often been stronger than before the injury. Your determination and dedication has clearly paid off. A massive well done!!!

Thanks so much linda9389 . It's interesting that you often come back stronger after injury. I'm wondering if the enforced rest as well as rehab exercises plays a part. Hhmmmm....running keeps the brain and the body active! πŸ˜€

Thanks Sandra, I'm definitely going to keep up with the strength and flexibility training. It's amazing how much time is available if you are a heavy tea drinker and exercise every time there's a brew on!
