Finally I made a sub 30 5k

Feeling great after my run today. I felt I was going well and had my music helping me along and I was delighted to find that I finally managed a 5k in 29.1 minutes. Feeling super chuffed. I have consistently managed 30/31 mins but the sub 30 remained elusive.

I started running about 2 years ago aged 59 with the C25k program and have truly loved my running journey. I will be doing my 2nd 10k race this year and hope to do a 10 miler later on. It’s never too late as they say and anything is possible.

Keep on running folks. 🏃🏼‍♀️‍➡️

That is absolutely wonderful! Congratulations.

I've only started running this past Feb (at 60) so you have given me hope that my 40 min 5K will one day reduce to closer to 30!!!

That's really amazing.

I'm on the 10K plan with NRC atm and hope to run my first 10K in the autumn. I've got two lined up.

Thanks again!!! Great encouragement...

You are doing really well, you already have a 10k on your radar. I absolutely know you will reduce your 5k time over time, just keep running and working on it and yes long slow runs really do make you faster. !

Congratulations on completing your first sub 30 minute 5k, that's a dream to many, including myself to get a sub 30 minute 5k, my quickest is 30,09 but I don't think that time will ever get better, never mind, as long as we runners enjoy our running that's the main thing

Ooh you were so close but yes I agree, to keep it fun is the main thing.

Oooh, fabulous - that's such a great milestone to celebrate. Congratulations.

Don't forget we have a badge for you when you run 10 miles, and we have a whole posse of pompom wavers to support you when you run your races - just be sure to add your details to the monthly event post when the time comes 😊 Sounds like you'll smash them!

That’s super impressive RAR! 🎉 I admire your tenacity - I don’t have that, at least not for speed, as I enjoy trundling along far too much for me to even attempt such a thing! 😅

In ran my sub 30 minutes in Park Runs about 18 months after I started C25k. Having other people around me seemed to speed me up a bit!

Congratulations on cracking the 30 minute “barrier” 👍
