I did my HU 10K yesterday. I'm part way through an NRC HM plan, yesterday was a 12K Tempo run with the lovely Coach Bennet. This was a hard run, 2K warm up, 8K tempo with effort increasing every 2K, then 2K cool down. I wasn't sure if I'd get through it, but just kept plodding along, doing my best. It wasn't a fast run, 12K took a tad under 2 hours, including the deliberately easy warm up and cool down, but I'm absolutely chuffed with it. Some of you will remember I've had a few health issues lately, and a few weeks ago couldn't manage 3K without needing a sit down, so I feel I've made a huge amount of progress. For this I largely thank NRC and CB, I'm sure I would not have kept going without the plan and the coaching.
Next up on the plan - another 16K, and 20K next week, ooh er!

Thank you! I'm knackered today, so I think an extra day off, but Ill be back on it soon. These plans work, I could barely do 12 K two weeks ago, now here I am doing it as tempo.
That's wonderful to read, well done, I'm just starting that plan and looking forward to increasing beyond 10k.Keep running and I hope your health issues are now b hind you
Thank you. I'm really surprised and pleased at the way this plan works, I would have said I was not up for these kind of distances, but clearly I am, I just need a good coach!!
I seem to remember you were one who responded to my post about thryoid problems, I have had a third increase in Levothyroxine, up to 100 MCG now. I'm feeling pretty good, just about normal. What a relief!
Once the thyroid levels are normalised with Levothyroxine it's amazing the difference. I'm glad to hear how good this plan is, I did the first run this last nch time and hoping to keep going
Great stuff Cg2! I really liked the programme and felt a bit lost this morning now that it is finished. So many golden nuggets hidden amongst a light sprinkling of amusing cheesy bits. I think underneath all of that, like C25k it is very cleverly designed. Glad you are enjoying it 🙂
I started the plan just to get some structure into my runs. No HM in mind and I wasn’t even sure that I wanted to run that far again. The HUHM appeared later, and whilst a chest virus then Covid-19 did their best to scupper everything, I decided to miss out the 20k and replace it with a 10 miler last week. I managed to run a slow HM on Monday. It felt much easier than I expected. I have the “what shall I do now ?” dilemma too. I think that I will go back into the plan and try to pick up the pace now that I have run the distance. An imp keeps whispering in my ear “try 25k”, but I am definitely not listening !!
That's pretty much where I am too. I just fancied the plan, and thought I'd see how far I could get. I did one 10 miler, then the second I got caught in a cloud burst, and got very cold. I turned for home and managed 12 K, so not too bad. This week has been challenging, the tempo run was hard but I enjoyed it. Not sure about the 20K next week, I might just press on to 21 to prove I can. Or I might stick to the plan...
I'll probably do it again, I reckon I've got more to get out of it.
Thank you IP, I have done a couple (3 actually!) of HMs but not all running, I've always done run/walk or taken walk breaks. I sort of feel I want to do at least one with no walking...
